Its not a bass.
But it was still fun to catch.....I was using my spinning rod with 6lb YoZuri line and I'm amazed he didn't break it as hard as he pulled....I knew it was a decent size fish once the drag started screaming, and when I first caught a glimpse of his back in the water, I thought it was a huge bass till he rolled on his side...lol...I still had my partner use the net that he had ready.
I caught several bass today but they were all under a pound.....I'll bet I caught 15 of these Pickerel on a pearl white with chartruese stripe DT4....They were tearin it up.

well at least you caught some bass. and a very nice pickeral. i gotta get my boat sticker. maybe i can go next weekend. this weekend wasn't good anyway, winds were around 15-20 mph. winter is coming around here. gotta get out there before it is too late.
remember, i am in the NORTHEAST CORNER of the state. in the mountain area, winds get pretty hefty here.

Nice! Sadly, we don't have that species in my neck of the woods.

Bama, it was 49 degrees this morning and we fought a the wind the whole time we were on the water....I got sick of it quick, but we started out catchin fish so we kept at it till the bite finally died down, and then we left, and let me tell ya after running the trollin motor all morning in that stuff I was ready...lol
And "Yes, Kory" he gave me a heck of a fight, and the whole time I was worried about the 6# line holding up...lol....Thats by far the largest Pickerel I've caught....I wish i'd of measured him, but in the excitement I just had my partner take a couple of pics and then quickly released him back....Slimy sucker was hard to hang on to....lol

That's a nice pickerel. Those things love crankbaits! So do all the little northern pike we've got around here.
