Default It made a grown man cry!

I made it out to one of the lakes today. One of the freshly trout lakes at that. I was throwing a catch-22 trout with a few followers and no hits so I decided to downsize my leader. My main line was 25lbs andes and I attached a 1 foot leader of seaguar suffix 12 lbs. I used a 40 lbs barrel swivel to attach it. About 4 casts after downsizing I had a missive strike. This was a hit that shook the boat. I got a good hook set and let it run some drag. This fish was putting a hurting on my dobyn's swim bait rod.
Visions of a 15lbs + beast ran through my head when I suddenly fell backwards. I looked at my now slack rod and just shook my head. I reeled in the very light end to find only the top half of my barrel swivel attached to the main.
I sat down, smoked a cigerette, and cursed that fish.

I will go back tomorrow.

I hate to hear it, but that experience made you sit back, take a smoke, and curse. Sounds like the conclusion of a good night (Hubba Hubba). So at least you got some good feeling out of it.

I often find myself asking WWZD?
What would Zooker Do....

But in the case of swimbaits I know. He would have traded them in on crank baits.

Hey Zooker, is that kleenex treated with aloe? Those west coast types like lots of aloe for tender noses.

Sorry to hear about that loss. I just had a swivel break on me in the same fashion this past weekend. Fortunately, there was no fish on the other end, as it was snagged under some rocks. While I did lose a homemade lure, I did save a bunch of money by switching to Geico and staying in a Holiday Inn. Now please pass the tampon... uh, I mean tissue.
