Default Pike on a "Bamabassman Suspending Jerkbait"

Hey Bama, remember that H2O Xpress Chrome/Black suspending jerkbait you sent me as part of the Secret Santa gift exchange last Christmas? Well, I finally tied it on for the first time last Sunday afternoon. I've never fished a jerkbait before, but apparently the pike in our lake don't care.

I caught this 3lb 7oz, 24.5" pike on my SECOND cast! I used it for a bit longer after that with no other bites, but I'll be sure to bring it back out again next time we're up there.

At the time, this was the 3rd largest pike I've caught on this lake since we've owned our place there in the fall of 2008. I bested that a couple times later Sunday night on a different lure(!), but those details and other pics & stories will come in a different thread in a day or two when I have more time.

For now, I just wanted to share this pic and some quick details and say thanks again for all the cool stuff you sent me last Christmas!

Dean

Nice pike. They sure do love jerkbaits! (and cranks, and spinnerbaits!). Putting the jerkbait to better use than Bama would have. He would've just caught bass the same size as the jerkbait!

Nice little pike you got there... you are lucky he didn't break you off.... I can't how many lures (mainly spinnerbaits) I have lost to those toothy critters.

Yeah, I hate those goofy pike, most of which are 2 pounds or less. I lost my KVD 1.5 crank to one of them earlier this year, plus all kinds of different things on dropshots to them as well. Last weekend was really bad. I lost 2 jig & pig combos to them and had several others that I got in the boat and then had to retie because they had inhaled the whole thing so far that my 30-lb braided line was starting to shred just above the jig head. They were just blasting the jigs though, so as long as they didn't steal it from me, I guess I should be satisfied.
