Favorite rod brand?
No, I'm not looking to get another rod!
Just wonder what kinda brand folks on the forum like the best. I know a lot of us like Garcia reels. But not sure where we all really stand as for rods. So what'll it be?

I will use any rod that is within my price range. All but 2 of my rods are made from a different manufactorer. Those 2 rods are Vendettas and I love them. I would love to try a Veritas but I have heard of them breaking easily

Zebco and ugly stik.....
No, I actually dont have loyalty to any particular brand, but i do own more than Abu Garcia Rod. I like looking for american made rods that dont cost an arm and a leg, but they are few and far between.... |

Before this season, I would have said Loomis. Now, without a doubt, it's gotta be Dobyns Rods.
They've got a great balance of performance, balance, and looks. I find them reasonably priced as well. BB

Ditto! It only takes one feel of a Dobyns to feel the difference and great part you can get the same precise balance in all three Series and Price Ranges.

OK lets see if we can tally them up.
Dobyns - 2 Falcon - 1 Quantum - 1 e21 - 1 St Croix - 3 Kistler - 3 GLoomis - 1 GraphiteLeader - 1 had a feeling St. Croix, and Kistler would be up there..

I was beat with an ugly stick, but I wouldn't fish with one. It may be America's most popular rod but it is a very poor rod to fish with. They weigh a ton for one thing and are not well made. I thought I liked my All star rods till a few weeks ago I swung a 2 1/2 pound smallie into the boat and my almost brand new 6'6" MH casting rod & it broke in half. I will be the first to admitt I have not tried a lot of rods. I have a Rapala spinning rod that has caught a ton of fish, but it to broke at the tip but i was able to repair it. I have a Gloomis 7'6" MH casting rod and I like it ok The Rod I want to try the most is the Kistler Helium rods. I've heard great things about this rod

ok. My turn I guess.
So I recently came in possession of St. Croix premier spinning rod, 7' M. And while I've only used it once, for a short time, I love the heck out of it. I was shocked with the sensitivity of it, and how well I could cast, both accurately and distance. Balances great with the reel I have on it. And I like the cork grips a ton. To early to tell, but I'll say it's the best rod I've used so far.

I think the question needs to be based on price range. I think we all may want the prime rib, but money makes us order the flat steak.
For me, my favorate is which ever one has a fish on the other end of it.

Off the top of my head I'll say Kistler. I also like St Croix, gloomis, Powell. It is really a hard question to answer though. The reason being i have different rods in weights and actions. I might say something different if I had all different rods in all actions and weights available. That would be impossible. I buy rods for different methods as cheap as I can get them. My first Kistler was bought for 25% off. My St Criox Tournament was more than half price. My loomis was for a trade. My last Kistler was less than half price. The others for less than Retail.

I use Kistler exclusively, not because they sponsor me either. I've used them for 7 years now and love them. I won't bore you with numbers but currently I have a mix of LTA, Argon & LTX rods.

Well, I like the St Croix Premier rods, and I have a couple Shimanos I really like. Especially the Shimano Crucial rod I have for pitchin. I also have a couple BPS Pro Qualifier rods I love, and a couple BPS Exteme rods I like. I have to watch my budgit, and these rods are modestly priced but offer a lot of bang for the buck.

I fish allot of different rods, but the ones that I like the best are E21 carrot stix, Very sensitive, extremely light and well balanced. I don't know of a better 89 dollar rod.

All of my rods except for one (which is a Vendetta) are Quantum. Most are superlites, but I do have 2 Tour KVD Crankin' Rods. Quantum rods are way underated for the money, IMHO.

My favorite baitcasting rod is a custom rod but made with a St. Croix blank. I'd say my favorite spinning rod is a Shimano. I'm not loyal to one brand but I look for best available (and what I can afford) to meet my needs.

Falcon. Still have yet to find a better factory rod. I have no reason to switch at this point in time. I started with them 11 years ago, and have yet to have a rod break.

CamG, I have fished with Falcon rods from time to time and really enjoyed them. I have used the Lowrider and the BuCoo. I was wondering which rod you use the most, and what would you recommend for throwing t-rigged plastic on.

I own mostly the Falcon Originals because they were about the only available Falcon rod at the time when I bought them. However, over the last few years I've picked up a couple Lowriders, a Bucoo, and 3 Cara's. The Cara's are absolutely awesome. If I could only use one rod for plastics it would be the Cara Finesse Jig CC-5-1610MH. This is my favorite rod I own. But, it is also pretty expensive. The other Falcon that I'd recommend for less money is the LFC-5-1610 Eakins Jig Special - Lowrider series. Great rod!
