my day at the lake
so i hook up the short stratos and head to high rock..been a while since i got out..last time i was out playing by myself was july 26..
having an inkling of how the rocks bass act in 78 degree water..i headed for my favorite spot using the ol bandit 100.. first fish came 3 cast into the morning.. ha! found dem... ok so the first one was a runt..he would not hold still-dodging fame i guess-.. i went down the bank hitting spefic locations.-covering alot of water- i picked off several more nice bass. as i came around a dock headed for the "location" all hell breaks loose right up in the rip rap bank near by..now me i aint stupid, i sling the bandit in there. twitch it once a bass loads up. were off to the races peeling drag at a good rate.. after a lenthy tug of war i finally lip the largest bass i have caught all year.. 8 pounds on the nose, digital scale... no pic cause i pulled a DOH! while un-hookin the bass, i was a bit excited. i umm got the mustads out and let go of the pliers.. pliers and bandit went in the drink..bandit floated up pliers were gone...SHAT!! the only pair of pliers i had in the boat...i released the fish amist a cuzzing fit.. i ease back into the area where the big fish came from. there was a bunch of busting but they would not touch the bandit..i pick up the simonize bait chunk it in there and bingo.. btw this as much as i'll ever show of that bait. i went down the bank -fairly long chunk of rip rap- catching 3 more two in the 8-9" p-dabbers range. and a 3 poundish bass.. i knew there was more fish on this bank. so i just had to borrow a page from bassnman30 and sling a lucky craft pointer 78 in table rock shad.. three more keepers and a 8-9" runt... ran to a second favored fall spot on the main lake.. hitting the "location" again the bandit 100 leading the way. several keeper fish and several runts later. i switch to the tenn killer- deeper water- and start to pound the same "locations". i caught one keeper bass and a two pound UGLY flat head-even for a flat head he was ugly- and boy howdy did he stink..used the boga grip on him..me like this tool... headed for the south end of the lake. again the bandit 100 and the norman tenn "flathead" killer going to work.. several borderline keepers and several 8-9" runts-dam there every where-i did pick off a good fish on the killer but he jumped and gave the bait back to me.. i did fish my winter spots.. -nothing yet- i headed for the ramp as it got a bit warmer than i like.. it is rather refreshing to fish and see only 10 boats..of course they all are old coots in jon boats with a 20 horse moters snow plowin by.. zooker

Way to go Zooker. Bet it felt fantastic to get back onto the water again. And to catch an 8 pounder is just icing on the cake. I lost a pair of plyers like that once. Boy can those things sink fast!!! lol

I don't believe you on that 8 lbr. If there is no picture then it didn't happen... Just kidding. Great catches man. I wish I could catch one over 3!!! I'm jealous of all you guys landing 5+ hawgs.
I love it when you tell yourself "I know there is a good fish right over there." And then wham, you catch a good one right where you thought. |

Zook, good to see you slaying 'em again. As per your endorsement, I have been slinging more Bandits this summer with pretty good results!

Good job man!
