Default Redfishing

Just went out to the Indian River/Mosquito Lagoons a few days a go with a great guide. I know this is a bassin site, but for anybody visiting fl, there is no reason to pass up on a great saltwater experience and there is absolutely nothing like sight-fishing the flats for big reds. They pull like no other fish and they are absolutely fun to catch. We went out on a day where just about every other guide was skunked, and we managed to haul in 15 reds and a 6lb "gator" trout. Capt. Dave Rogers was our guide, he had only the best gear and he offered a great price. Anyone visiting the area any time soon should defenitely check him out.

I've been talking about going Red fishing. When is the better times during the year to go for them? Where other than just the intercoastal are some of the better areas to fish for them? Obviously I don't know squat about them. Other than they get BIG rotfl.

Offshore in the winter when the breed they get the HUGE ones but you can't keep 'em cuz their way over slot. Got in the Indian River lagoon (IRL) or try the Mosquito (sp) Lagoon.

You can fish them offshore, but if you're a serious bass angler I'd think that you'd like going inshore a lot more. Best time is b/w now and october for really big inshore reds. IMO as far as saltwater goes inshore is way better than offshore, when you're inshore, you are fishing for the fishing. When you're offshore, you are fishing for the fish, if you get what I'm saying.

I've been twice in laguna madre w/ a guide, and only caught one red, but caught a bunch of 20-23 inch trout. Next time we go we will get a better guide. It's alot of fun, and worth the money though.
