Default Prayer Request

Everyone one that is on this site very much knows how much Bama's 13 year old collie means to him and Lisa. The dog, whose name slips my mind (Sorry, John), is having a lot of problems this morning. To make matters worse, the weather and road conditions make it almost impossible to get to the vet. Right now, John and Lisa are trying to make it to the vet. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers for their safe return home and a positive out come for their 4 legged family member that they love very much. Thanks!

Praying for a safe trip for John and Lisa, and a good outcome for Gallie.

Gallie, that's it! I knew it but it left my little mind as I was typing.

Man, there couldn't be a worse time for this to happen. I thought about calling him, but don't want to if they're driving in the snow...
I'll lift up a few prayers, though. King Galahad, III is his full name.

Bama's got my prayers. I lost my Coonhound who I grew up with last year. She was eleven. Funny how they become part of the family. Hope his majesty pulls through. And why shouldn't he? He's lived this long, no reason he shouldn't keep on truckin.

thank you danny. your talking ot me on the phone was instrumental in saving his life i think. we did make it to the vet's office and he was waiting on us. we were his last patient too. vets truly love their profession. to wait on a sick animal in these conditions like we have here tells me this. and i can tell that danny is another one of those very devoted professional vets. GOD BLESS YOU DANNY.
now as for the KINGS conditon. we (the vet and danny) think that gallie may have had a very mild stroke. it is neuroligical (spelling?) most likely. he had temporaryblindness, and........well........panicked a little. poor fella. lisa nd i were panick strickened too. lisa was trying to call the vet office and i called danny. told him the symtons and he told me to get him down if at all possible. we got him down, the roads are cleared enough now. (yes i will go to work tomorrow) and the vet looked gallie over very throughly, made lisa and i VERY HAPPY to see him REALLY make sure gallie was ok. anyway, geve us some meds for him. gave him a couple of shots and gave US 2 more so we would be able to give it to gallie if it happens again. NOW THAT IS DEDICATION FOLKS.
then we made the slow trip back home now. gallie ate real good and is now sleeping. he has had a rough day today. but i think he will be ok for a while longer.
this has FORCED me to realize that my best friends life is near the end and it is hard to swallow gang. there will never be another friend like him. i just hope he understands how much lisa and i love him. he has been so helpfull to us during his lifetime. see........neither lisa nor i can have have children. he came into our lives and became our child. he understands when we are mad, sad, sick and happy. he has mde our life that much more meaningful. some people will not and never will understand what i am talking about. but that is ok. it owuld be different if we could have kids. we know that.
but thank you danny for posting this and THANK EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU for the well wishes. it means the world to us.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. Did he expect any kind of damage from the stroke, or was it mild enough to not really affect him?
I'm glad you got him home, though. That had to be one scary ride down the mountain.

I'm glad to hear that he ate a good meal and is resting. That in and of itself is a sign he'll be okay.

John, I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to Gallie today. I've been in your shoes twice my friend and honestly understand how your feeling right now. When we lost our lab Cody a few years back, it just about killed all of us despite the fact that he was a very naughty dog. But we loved him to death, and letting him go was very hard. He slipped away in my lap with the family around him. Cody had cancer. The best thing you can do for Gallie, your allready doing. Just keep lovin on him and making the best of what days he has left.

John, I am very glad to hear that your buddy is doing better. Being able to get ahold of Danny and get his advice is just another example of how helpful the good people on this site can be. We will keep your family in our prayers.

John,
Thank you for the kind words. I felt pretty worthless being so far away and not being able to do anything to help Gallie. I am glad it worked out. Stay warm.

John, you big softy, lovin on that dog like that. I totally understand, man. Yeah, they definitely don't live forever. It's what they give us while they're here that matters. Cherish him, Bama.

he is doing great now gang. THANK YOU ALL AGAIN FOR THE PRAYERS AND COMMENTS. makes it easier to deal with. he even "played" a little today when i got home. it consists of him walking around the living room barking at me whil i am halfway running around the living room. i give out before he does, lol. but after about 30 mins he is tired and ready for a nap. he doe sthis about 5 times every evening. so i know it won't be long for him. but he is happy right now. feels better and is eating a LOT better and keeping it down now. again, thank you all.

Glad to hear he's doin ok, John.

I stongly agree on a couple points. Every single vet I've ever dealt with, including one in Vegas that I've done volunteer work with a couple times, are in it because of their love for animals. They truly love what they do, and love their patients.

The second is how tough it is to realize your pet isn't gonna be around forever. My Rott is 13 now, and whiole in overall good health, is really developing hip issues in a bad way.
So I know EXACTLY what you're feelin on that subject!
All we can do is be the best to them we can, while they're with us.

thanks mike. i know he is not gonna see another winter. it is too ahrd on him. and all i want is for him to see ONE more sprin. if he does good, maybe the summer. but it ain't lookin promising. he is going downhill fast now. he is eating ok, and all. but he jsut can't get around good, and cries whenever you lay him down. i jsut beg him to hang on till spring time. he is trying his best. thanks man for real. it means a lot to us.

John, I just read this, and I'm glad to see Gallie is going alright.

Losing a pet is tough, especially when it is a drawn out ordeal. Stay strong for Gallie. He knows how much you and Lisa love him, and I know he'll hang on as long as he can. He seems to hate winter as much as you, so he'll hang in there so he can say he beat the snow!
