Default Help me ID these trout

I believe these to be young rainbow trout, but I'm not 100% sure. What do you think?

Yes those very cold young rainbows.
They look best in a real butter with silvered almond green bean bed.
You just made me hungry.

Ahh rainbows... that's what I thought they were. And yes that's whats for dinner tomorrow night. All I did was gut 'em and freeze 'em. Now time to decide how to cook 'em.

Very simple and so good. One stick real butter and 1/4 cup slivered almonds. Frozen green beans. Cook green beans as normal in water and drain. In fry pan melt butter and add slivered almonds. Cook med heat till almonds turn brown. Need to watch and stir this often. Once a nice brown almond is done scrape the almonds into the green beans leaving the butter. Place trout in pan and splash butter over top with spatula. Turn over when skin is peeling off. Do the same for other side and serve on plate.

Starch can be mashed potatoes or rice with lime/ cilantro added.

Often the stocked small blunt nose rainbows lack some of the color of a fish that is either natural or been released for quite some time. They still taste good.

Well, I caught all of these trout on the lower end, back in the creeks where the water temps were in the low 40's. I would graph literally a ton of these fish in back in the pockets of a creek with incoming runoff from the hillside. And they were very aggressive going after the float n' fly. And then some of the time in the same pockets, I would hook into a fat smallmouth. All of the smallmouth that I caught were near or in the same area that the rainbow trout were in. These smallmouth were fat, and I speculate that they were gorging themselves on some of the smaller rainbows. That's my guess anyways.

I caught them back in the creeks on the lower end. Indian Creek, Kyle Branch, Horse Creek, and the No Name Creek over by USACOE. Let me tell a guy could limit out really fast fishing a float n fly on these Rainbows. These trout were ranging in size from 8" - 12". TN regs. say limit 7 day with no size limits.

All Dale has in it as far as trout are Rainbows, and the extremely rare Brown.

OK, I got brave and read it. I was scared to death it might have been a trouser trout... some guys on here you just have to be a little careful with. I agree, they look like young rainbows, very tasty fried in butta. I also like them filleted, wrapped in foil with a little salsa and a pat of butta and baked or grilled. I fillet any fish I intend to eat, even bought fish get filleted once I get them home. I absolutely HATE finding a fish bone in my dinner entrée.

The sweet thing about trout is entire bone structure comes right out. But as grand dad always instructed you should eat fish with your fingers.

Tn stocking is far reaching most lakes will have some streams that empty into them, that are stocked,Ky lake has about 6 or 7,stocked within 1 mile or less and some migrate to the main lake,Ive caught one fishing for bass 15 miles from the nearest stocking stream and in July.Even south Pitsburg tn has several that empty into guntersville.
To those unaware upper part of guntersville is in Tn.Just about as much as Ky lake is actually in Ky.So doesnt surprise me dale hollow has trout stockings.Or for that matter that those in the lake can survive after getting there.A Trout pattern jerkbait does work.
