Default Tell me what you think

I am going to set up a rod for soft plastics and jigs, I will be getting a curado 200e7 and will either put it on a powell ef704c, ef705c, or 733, I just need to know which one to get and what size and kind of line, Thanks guys.

Depends on what your fishing in/around,and what weight jigs are you throwing?..All rods will throw a line and lure some distant, but loading the rod correctly will maximize its performance.

I throw alot of 1/4-3/8 jigs and 1/8-1/40z t-rig plastics in light to medium cover..So the 703 or 733 is what I would be looking at.

If Im fishing heavy cover/grass,carolina rigging..I going to want more backbone to wrestle the fish out of with...So maybe the 704.......The 705 maybe a little overkill for what you want, but again,I dont know what your planning on throwing...The 704 may also make a nice frog rod as well.

Line also depends in what your fishing in....I use 15lb inviz-x for most of it...It pretty good against abrasion and Ive never had any issue with it..Very easy to manage as well...Theres multiple thread on that if you use the search tool on here.

I would be leaning to the 704, 705 or the 734. I like to fish my jigs on at least a heavy rod. A full skirted, 1/2oz jig with a big craw trailer is a heavy bait that creates a lot of drag in the water, you need a rod with enough backbone to stay in control of the bait. I don't think you'll get that from a 3 powered, med hvy rod.

703 ,3/8 oz 20 lb braid, can toss worms with it as well, put mono on the spool to cover the bottom then attach braid to it,so it wont slip.
Bottom line its what it feels like and you like that counts.

x2

A 4 powered rod is what you'll need for many jig fishing applications. I'd rather be overpowered than underpowered when it comes to contact baits like jigs, t-rigs, etcs.

Like I said in another of your threads, I own both a 703 and 733 Dobyns and don't like fishing more than a 1/4oz + trailer jig on them. They fish very similar to Powell rods (or as far as I could tell as I've only fished a Powell for a very limited amount of time). Bump up to the 704 (or 734 is Powell has one). Even the Endurance 714 would work good (although probably wouldn't look good with the 50E, lol).
