First of the year

I've been fishing for the past few days since the weather has been so nice but not having any luck. I've been having a hard time to find the fish but I can tell you that they are not shallow and not holding onto structure. Finally today I caught my first of the year:

Not a giant but a good way to start the year, if you don't count the hundreds of casts without hooking up. It came on slow rolling a chatterbait that I made a custom WM/Gold skirt for with half a swim Senko as a trailer. And just to rub in our great weather to the guys up north, here's a photo from last night:

Nice fish Bender! For a minute here you had me going.... i forgot that you had moved, and though you were still in the north.

I was wondering where you found open water!!

I haven't managed to get out yet, but I'm definitely itching to with this great weather we're having. It's supposed to be 72 and sunny today...driving me nuts...

I was really frustrated with all the places that I fished last year so I found a new lake, Long Creek Reservoir. It is owned by the City of Meridian and is really nice. It is deep, has a creek channel, coves, shallow flats, and one end even has lots of stumps. This is a lake that I think I will really like. There's even a small weedline in one end which I haven't found in any other lake around here.

A couple friends from up north are meeting me there next Thursday. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I stopped by another local lake on my way shopping today and caught a couple more from shore. I also had a GIANT on but I lost him coming over a log on the way to shore. It seems like every day of this warm weather the bass are getting more active.

chris..where exactly are ya'll meeting? might wanna check the weather. may "cool" down by then. high 20's or low 30's by then. jsut keep an eye on the weatherman bud. holler at me, if it is nice and i got my rig ready, imay meet ya'll there if i can.

ok chris......i am hitting the lake tomorrow for SURE. got everything set now. had to spend ALL day on the RAJUN CAJUN, but she is ready for launch!
