Not me-it doesn't get cold enough here. No ice, no snow, and no closed season.

Not me either. On bass I will focus on just getting a little better, I already know I'm not a good winter fisherman but I figure if I fish enough and stay committed I will learn a few more tactics. But one of the main things I will do is also target Sauger and Trout because I do know a little more about fishing for them in the winter. Actually, the only time you can really catch sauger around here is in the dead of winter.

I've made it a mission to fish as much as I can this winter for two reasons. One ,to become a better cold water angler and two,so I dont dont have to get the feel for everything all over again once it does warm up!Seems like the first couple of times I fish after a break during the winter I have to sorta "learn" things again. Not this time!

We can fish year round here, but I will call it quits in January since it's the slowest month here to fish, and it gives me time to spend with my woman so she won't hate me when I go fishing all next year.

We're pretty much done here, the ice is on now, probably wait a month and go ice fishing for gills, then by mid april be able to fish again, late march if we're lucky.

I thought I had already hung it up. But my friend called Thursday, we loaded up and went to the upper Nottaway, got there about 1pm, caught one dink on a rattle trap, lost 1 on a t/water. That,s it until spring for me..And for those of you who are still fishing, "stay warm and dry".

I fish usually once a week in the winter. I am a pretty good cold water fisherman. First couple of years of fishing in the winter were tough because I didn't go about it right but I have learned spots and rigs that work well in the winter on my lakes.

Well I was going to rap up the boat this weekend, but 28° out and 25 mph winds today and snow tomorrow, so I'm going to hold out and see if hopefully next weekend will be a little better so I can at least enjoy my last outing by boat, then it will be onto foot patrol, then if things freeze up enough maybe a little ice fishing.

I'm gonna hang it up, 50-70 degree air temps and 60-65 degree water temps just make the fishing too dang hard....................yeah right!

I caught a 4lber Dec. 1 in Raleigh, NC. I have no plans of quitting. I'm hoping for a mild winter. Like many of you, I want to work on my cold water skills. This will be the first winter I've fished. That's because there is a big difference between an Ohio winter and a North Carolina winter - about 20 degrees.

I was all set to hang it up for the winter, but I hit a pond today since I had some free time. I had fished the entire perimeter throwing a spinnerbait the first time around, and a jig the second time around without a single bite, when on what I said was my last cast I hooked up a nice 5 pounder under a fallen tree, so I may have to go back out one more time before it gets to cold to hold a rod.

Never quit fishing till the water is hard...the whole body. Even when the coves got ice out to the main points I keep fishing. Infact the ice line tends to be fairly productive for me. But I don't go fishing near as much cause I'm learning to hate the cold. Guess I'm just getting old.

Once fished a 2 acre pond and my nephew threw his bait in the only open spot (due to ice) and caught a good keeper, this spot was about 1ft by 1ft.
1.Zook, there are alot of NC people on here, but then again NC has alot of fishermen. 2.Zook, what happened Sat. I and perhaps (we) thought that you would bring in a winning string. Not to worry though, I've got some pretty good areas. In the event that your "great" areas don't produce, mine should. You may want to practice up with your finesse baits.

We just moved here to Pasadena, MD and there is already ice forming on most water I've seen. I'm probably going to hang it up too.
