Pad stems
What do you like to use in the pad stems before they grow again?

Timely question since I spent 3-4 hrs this morning fishing the stems myself. Today it was #9 Rapalas twitched hard in the breaks and around the edges and weightless TR senkos deadsticked way back. Kind of a strange mix but hey. Over the years I've found that if bass are using the stems ........they are likely to hit just about anything......last week they were clobbering squarebills slow rolled through um.

I've had pretty good luck with a soft 5" swim bait weightless. It gets some rather aggressive strikes!

I've had success crashing spinnerbaits through the stems, especially when the pads just start developing.

Just as soon as the tiniest leaf forms or green appears in the stem a frog, capt kens desinger bass frog with skitter legs, its moving fast looks like a horny toad in the water but can stop it and it floats, later a normal frog will work.
Spawners wont just swirl on it they try to kill it. |

I like to throw 5" swimbaits, buzz baits, weedless wacky worms and 4" lizards.

Hard to beat a spinnerbait or a buzzbait if the water's warm enough! Other wise a senko does quite nicely for me!
