Default New tackle box, your opinion please.

I'm fairly new to seriouse fishing. I'm starting to out grow my little Flambau fishing bag. I'm looking at a Plano 737 and a plano 7771. I like the idea of getting something fairly large that has a great ability to keep me organized. I'm not sure if i want drawers like in the 737 or stow a ways like in the 7771. Seems like the stow aways are more versatile but yet a bit combursome to deal with. Id love to know what some of you veterans feel works best. the tackle box will be kept on a 16' spectrum bass boat. My boat has no real storage so the tackle box will be kept on deck and in easy reach.

I have a Plano 7771 that I would be willing to sell. It's in very good shape, and I believe I have all the boxes that came with it. I used until my lure collection grew too big and I switched to utility boxes in tackle bags. Anyways, it holds quite a bit off stuff. The spinnerbait box is a great feature too. Mine's only about a year and a half old, so let me know if you'd be interested. Like I said, it's in great shape, nothing broken and only a couple small scratches.

Also, where are you located?

Stowawys and wraps (bags). With these you can take or leave only what you need and they are more versatile, like you said.

I make due with buying the individual plano boxes and stuffing them into a duffel or book bag depending on where i am fishing .

I would go with the bag and the plano boxes. Once the monkey gets ahold of you, you will have a lot of tackle. With the boxes just lable them and take what is needed.

Before you buy a Plano tackle bag, check out your local Gander Mountain. I found one of their bags that comes with six regular size boxes, six small boxes, has modular velcro compartments and more pouches, pockets, and zippered storage than you can throw a stick at. Plus it comes with wheels and a handle for airport trolling if you ever travel by plane. It was $100. I bought a spinnerbait box for it, configured the velcro pieces to hold it, and I'm good to go. It's heavy duty material too.

I prefer tackle bags to tackle boxes. Although some of the reason applies to walking shorelines, which doesn't sound like you'll be doing.

Tackle bags are wa-a-a-a-y better than tackle boxes, in my book.

I am pretty much with everyone else here. I prefer the tackle bags with individual boxes inside. It makes it so much easier to organize. I also keep all plastics in ziplock bags that are labeled according to bait type. (Craws, large worms, DS baits, etc) These fit better in a bag than traditional box.

After loosing all my tackle during the tornado this spring I purchased a small tackle bag from Walmart.....Says "Okeechobee" on the front....It came with three, but it holds five of the 360 boxes....plus it has room for a couple of the smaller boxes in the end pouches on the bag......It seems to hold a fair amount of tackle and has a shoulder strap which makes for easy carrying.....its smaller size also works great from the boat I fish from....its just a 15ft narrow hull boat that doesn't have alot of floor space so the smaller tackle bag seems to work real well for me.....for now anyway....lol

My tackle bag has a shoulder strap too. Comes in very handy now and then

My tackle bag would break your shoulder if you tried to carry it that way. Ummpphh.

Pretty doubtful. I carry 6' 150# rolls up ladders on a fairly regular basis. Unless you're calling your boat your tackle box

I use plastic milk crates and stuff plano style boxes in them. Its easier to get to the tackle this way, the crates are cheap and durable, and I can mix and match what boxes I need to location.
