Default Average spent per year

Just read that the average fisherman spends $179 per year on tackle and $40 for licenses.........I think the monkey isn't working hard enough!!!

This puts most if not all of us in the above average category!!! And if that makes you feel good then you get a smiley face

That seems a little low.... I have $48 in stickers for state parks & DNR launches, $15 for license (don't plan of fishing Canadian waters this year), plus I'll have maybe another $50+ for misc. boating ramps.
$179 on tackle - yeah right!! Maybe that's per month......

I pay $35 for my MI non-res license alone. Not to mention my $19 OH license... And more if we decide to fish Indiana.

Uhm... $179?!?! I could spend (and have ) more than that in one trip to BPS...

I guess I'm above average as well.

There must be about 20 fishermen living in my house then.

I suspect that includes the countess folks out there who might make it on the water 2-3 times a year. Sadly, I think most of us have a monthly cost in that range.

This thread reminds me of a funny signature I saw the other day:

90% of my money goes to fishing......The rest I just blow.

since jan. I have spent aboout close to 2600 on everything from new setups to complete tackle setups < Frogs, Cranks, Jerks> I would think i have somewhere in the neighborhood of cost to 600 in just those 3 alone. This is not including the 4000 i put out for the boat and the money i have spent to get it right dont think it ever ends. Wish i could just come pro so i can write all this stuff off at the end of the year. LOL

I know that when I'm on the lake, the majority of anglers are bobber fishin. Nothing wrong with that, but I'd say the majority of fisherman are bait fisherman, and they arn't going to spend nearly as much annually as a bass fisherman would.

I'm not going to even say how much I've spent on tackle since April,2009. Let's just say "too much".

I guess we aren't average. I don't know many of us here who spend that little. $48? Shoot, that is just for hooks. Who were they surveying? I wish I spend on $48/year. That amount alone is the cost for my fishing license. I am optimistic. It drops to $8 when I turn 70. Lonnnggg way to go.

I'm one of the guys on the low end of the scale, that make up for all the guys that spend too much...lol.....Last year I probably spent $175 on tackle with a new BPS reel being half of that cost......So far this year i've probably spent $50 or so, not counting license fee's or tournament entry fee's......I'd like to spend more, but it is was it is.....lol

They definitely didn't survey average bass fisherman. I've spent more than that this week.

Wow, only $179? Hah, that is laughable. In the past three weeks, I have spent clost to $1,000 on new rods and reels alone. That is not including tackle. If I had to guess it is probably between 3,000 and 5,000 per year.
