I have had great luck with Vicious Fluoro. Good line at a good price. I also use the KVD Line & Lure which makes any Fluoro/Mono more manageable.

Since no-one has suggested it and this isn't a problem you've had previously. I'm assuming it's the same rod as well, that you've been using the vanish with over the last three years. Use a cotton swab or cotton ball and check your line guides. The thinner diameter lines tend to mess guides up quicker, be espeacially thorough with the tip guide. Run the cotton through the guides both directions, inspecting both sides of the guides to make sure it's not ripping cotton away from the swabs/balls on either side of it.
If you have a good magnifying lens or glasses use those to look for hairline fractures in the guides.

How do you replace the guides on a spinning rod? I have two that are completely missing that are the second and third guides from the end of the rod. The guides are still attached to the rod but the spoon protective "lining" is gone.

Bass Pro makes the XPS fluorocarbon line. When you weigh all the pros and cons about different brands of fluoro this is the one that has me satisfied overall.
I have a spool of 15 lb. Triple Fish that I'm going to put to the test. It's fairly inexpensive. I have a bunch of ponds I fish to try new tackle (baits, line, rod reel combo's) on to see how it performs before I use it in a tournament. I use 7 or 8 rods in a tx and right now they are all spooled with either XPS Fluorocarbon or P-line Fluoroclear.

I'm betting that's your problem... however... Vanish is still the worst fluorocarbon out there and has been proven. Not to mention... Vanish Transition is the most visible under water. I would use a good mono before I would use that stuff. I've tried it and you'll never see that stuff spooled on one of my reels again. Just my opinion!

I don't have a problem with Vanish because I have never used it. You are confusing me with the guy who started the thread. I was just asking how to replace the guides. Maybe I should have started another thread. Sorry.

Gamma Floro is the best line out there! Great knot strength and incredibly strong line!

Finally. Howsomebloominever, the FloroClear will serve well when using Moto Perpetuo topwaters, especially where the fluorocarbon sheathing will aid in reducing abrasion as the lure charges through weeds and such. This means Toads, BuZZZZZZZZZZZZZZbaits, and others of that ilk (not related to Elk or any of the other Cervine mammals) since they are generally in constant motion. SPRO frogs, the Ribbit(TM) Floating Toad and similar "pause" baits?...Not so good with F'Clear but doable.

Yessir!

$23.00 for one spool gets old real fast though. Great line though...

If you'd read the previous posts, you'd have found:

"Two lines that shouldn't even be sold:
Vanish (and Transition).
Stren MicroFuse.

That's from bitter experience, BTW.

L6"

Update: I was in BPS y'day and they have MicroFuse on "Clearance" at a not very low price. Then again, ANY price is too damned much.
