Paint Chipping

Hey guys, I noticed while I was fishing a few months ago that I had a small chip in the paint on my Viento. I let it go, until there were two. I didn't really have any idea of how to fix it, so again I did nothing. Now I've got quite a few. I'll post pics later (or when I find my camera.) Are there any ways to fix this, well probably not fix, just keep it from getting worse?

gee that all i got a quatum tour edition that has 90% of the paint gone..ya think a $350 reel would have a good paint job..

hell my bps extreme is in better shape and gets used more..

Maybe clear nail polish?

I have a Pinnacle thats almost bare metal. I really dont worry about it myself, but I can understand why someone would. I'm sure if you were real careful and disassmbled and covered the sensitive areas, you could repaint it with an airbrush.

yeah clear nail polish or a sealer of some kind would be your best bet , and you should def take it apart before applying it , then after the coats dry clean around the edges and reassemble

While we are on the subject, I bought a Johnny Morris reel for 40 bucks at a place in Florida merely, I think, because the chrome finish went on uneven and was chipping in places. But it casts great. The looks really dont matter and if you can find out what they do with the blemished reels and rods, you can get some nice tackle pretty cheap.

His handle is Fish_TX. You can register and go to the member list and pull up some more of his paintjobs. I am sure he would be happy to do a job for ya! Reel paint jobs, there is nothing sacred when it comes to fishing

Thanks guys, I think I'm gonna go with the clear nail polish for now to prevent further chipping of the paint, but like Zook said, when you spend that kind of money for a reel, you'd expect the paint to at least hold up. My viento isn't even a year old! If I can eventually find a paint ot match the blue on the viento, I'll fix it, but for now, preventing more damage is what I'm really trying to do.

zook, which model is your quantum? The older ones? Those dam things won't get a scratch even if I rub it on rocks. But... the magnetic breaks adjustment clicker does chip up and peel.

the new model lsd paint job one..it is black under neather the lsd paint..
