Default how my day went

every was goin good anthrax was thumpin it out. boat wentr in nice and easy. the hammer fired up. ran to the first spot 3 miles up the lake .dropped the troller in and hit the button.

then all hell broke loose. the breaker in the back of the boat clicked out. smoke started pour out of the plug in. i yanked the troller plug and burned my hand in the pocess. smoke still flowing from the front i went to the back of the boat and disconnected the battery. smoke still coming from the front end..dug out my rusty screwdriver and pulled the female troller socket out. it was completely melted into a lump of plastic..the male end had fuses the "waterproof" cover to it self.. swore a blue streak...

knowing my day was done i cranked up and came home..

after 2 hours of diggin i found the cause the two wires touched in the male end..

dog gone it man. i had the same thing happen to me on the pontoon earlier this year. hope you get out today, seeing as i can't go till maybe next weekend. T S faye is coming our way. not alot of rain...more like a constant drizzle. but the dam winds are a killer. glad you didn't set the whole boat a blaze pal. seen that happen before as well. feller didn't have fire ext. on board.

Zooker I feel your pain bought a troller slightly used guy had spliced extra wire in and wrapped it with cheap black tape, you guessed it (Fire in the hole) we got the fire out damaged my seat and some cosmo fiberglass but saved the boat, motor, and battery glad your ok .

word to the wise keep that fire ext. in the boat, saved our bacon.

Did, perhaps, you fail to fully rotate the plug post-insertion? In my experience that has been the cause of such disasters, due to arcing.
