The problem is, if we make it closer to bassboss, we make it farther away from Bigbassin who I know we all want to attend. The geography is just impossible to get it so its perfect for everyone. Perhaps though we can arrange some carpools or something from the great north, or even flights if we gotta. We got lots of time. Hell, rent a school bus and send it through to pick up folks.

There are a lot of lakes that would be great that just arent central enough. I really thought Toledo Bend, Seminole and Santee-Cooper are all good enough with I'm sure accomodations but they arent centralized. There is a reason the Tennessee river keeps coming up, its good fishing and its in the middle. The real choices are gonna be Dale Hollow, Wilson, Guntersville or Kentucky lake.

Ya, carpooling is a good idea! But who's further nor than BigB that would come? And no one's further south of me. The bus Idea would is great though! I wounder about a train.... naw, the us has no Mass transit ! But ya, the bus idea is good, wonder how much it would be to get from here to there.. as oppose to going there in a ram 1500? You wouldn't have to pay for gas is a bus, that's for sure!

Update:

Acording to grayhound, it would be 366$ round trip to go to our place, to Anniston, AL ... 19hr trip!!!!

I've done cross-country bus trips. They're not too bad, except for sometimes you get the baby crying for 6 hours, the filthy couple pretty much breeding in the seat behind you, etc. Actually, not having to do the driving might be worth the long trip time. You'd just have to be 100% certain you packed your rods and reels safely. The apes that work at those places destroyed plenty of my stuff I relinquished to the undercarriage of the bus.

You'd probably burn $300-400 in gas driving a Dodge Ram that far too, depending on which engine you've got. I burn a ton when towing my boat.

Ya, my dad would hate driving that far... he'd be zonked the next day. In the bus, he could sleep all he wanted..... and that would be a lot! Good thing we don't have a boat to tow! And do they cover the food, like would they feed us?

Thanks for the info nofear!

Well, I certainly hope the water runs right by the bank. Doesn't it have to?

Like I said...I am sold. But how HAWT is it there in April? I like fishin', but feeling like a piece of bacon fat sizzlin' in a cast iron skillet is the suck.
For some reason, I pictured you on a cot

You can for sure get to some decent fishing, I started out around here with just a TM so I will tell you every place I know that is TM friendly. Obviously, not the tailwater, lol. 1st creek ramp is good, big nance creek ramp, and the small ramp near the cabins has a decent little slough. The wading in a few super secret creeks has good fishing and there is good shore fishing below the dam. But last time we had a boat surplus so we might be able to get some of yall out on the water paired up with boaters.

http://www.outdooralabama.com/videos...JoeWheeler.flv

I am currently loading several short videos I took of the lake area, cabins, ect. That video above is great, however its a big park and the cabins are across the river from the lodge, restaurant, and marina, pool, golf course, beach and state park camping. Used to be a great all you can eat seafood at the restuarant on weekends.

OK, new videos of the area

http://good-times.webshots.com/video...56901576fGLauV
This is a fish caught in shoal creek, wilson lake.

http://good-times.webshots.com/video...56901576tVwYVQ
This is a good wading creek running into the lake.

http://good-times.webshots.com/video...56901576yRlsmW
Another good wading stream.

http://good-times.webshots.com/video...56901576SgHcbc
Catch, video and release of a stream smallie

http://good-times.webshots.com/video...56901576MxGPXk
Wheeler lake, 1st creek mouth. Located across the river from the cabins, near the lodge and lake cottages. There is a point with a nice stairstep ledge here.

http://good-times.webshots.com/video...56901576fnTNLz
Wheeler lake, a few yards from wheeler dam. I'm sitting on 45' of water right here. This bank is right beneath the cabins.

http://good-times.webshots.com/video...56901576CfHbYs
This is the cabin I stayed at. Simple, clean, quiet, and everything we need.

http://good-times.webshots.com/video...56901576phKHPa
Right after I caught the big smallie, heading back towards the ramp on Wilson lake. The dam tailwater is right there.

http://good-times.webshots.com/video...56901576fqzqpp
A very brief video of the cabin area. Battery was almost dead.
