I like how the seriously entertain the idea. "how can i get them to stay on the hook?". Duh, everyone knows when your fishing with live spiders if you use spider-wire they will just hang off the end no problem.

easy a G Loomis flippin pole. Cause I flip those little suckers off me as soon as they hit. My wife would probally say a pitching outfit cause she pitches a fit when she sees a spider.

I used to tie a gargantuan foam fly that could have imitated a spider.

The idea of live spiders is icky, but spiders are a prey item. I wonder if he was using recluses, or just widows.

There is a definite advantage to using black widows in that you don't actually have to fight the fish -

You see the bass bites the spider

Then the spider bites the bass

Then the bass floats into you on the line

BRILLIANT!

Ok I admit my attempt at humor was pretty lame, but I gave it some effort.
Seriously though a rubber spider for blue gills on a light fly rod is some fun stuff. I used to catch grasshoppers sometimes and float them also. It was fun until a 10 pound channel cat nailed a grasshopper in this small pond one time and broke my fly rod.

I'll give ya that. but it's a beer none the less. All something needs to have in it to be called a beer are Hops,Barley, and Water . Once you add anything else to the mix , it is no longer a beer .
Like some of the Sam Adams lagers though tastey technicaly not a beer . One might also say if that was the case how do so many dif beers have seperate tastes . That comes from dif types of hops ,for example a beer with pheonix hops would have a bitter , fuller taste .

WTL, I love how you incorporated the Guinness "Brilliant" ad into your post.

And by the way, Guinness is beer. (I must take this position since my last name is McNicholas)

Sorry dont do spiders. Had a brown widow drop down on my leg today. Guess he found a home under my boat console. Scared the living ****aki out of me. These things are just like black widows and are taking over in Florida.
