Default Douglas Lake TN

Hi Everyone,

In about two weeks I will be taking a trip to TN to spend a long weekend on Douglas Lake. I was wonderning if anyone has had any experience on this body of water and would be willing to share any insights. If you could share some info and/or experiences please do so. Thanks so much!

Try this, follow douglas dam road to dam and put in there.

From ramp go to the right into flat creek.

Notice many coves/fingers as you travel into flat creek.

Use red lizards/worms or tequila sunrise worms in back/sides of coves and on sides of slopes/fingers.

Pat attention to the bottom, you want to fish large shale chunky areas rather than smooth shale banks.

We used to get some really big fish on pop-r early in the morning on these points.

Little george 1/2 oz. is a good choice to cover lots of ground on these banks and get deep fast.

Yo-yo these baits all over these banks and points.

If the water is in the trees and grass back in coves try a floating rat on heavy line..............

If you can't put in there or fish flat creek, try the methods anywhere on this lake.

Welcome.........also........be advised this is mostly a shale bottom lake.

Structure is mostly larger out croppings of shale chunks.

This is where most of the fish seem to hold so "feel" the bottom.........if it's smooth try to find a bumpy bottom.

My biggest on this lake was an even 6.0 on a bomber silver side minnow below worked on a deep bluff area in summer.

TVA has been pulling Douglas fast and furious the last month. The lake is drawing down fast. The best bite has been at night or very early in the AM. Cherry seed has been a hot color for the T rig. Stay close to deep water. The best action has been in the Dandridge area lately. The Ramp at the dam will be like grand central station Labor day. The further up the lake you go the less traffic. The top water bite has been real soft but the cool weather we are having may bring it back.Fish any wood cover you find. Fish2win
