Default off to india

Well folks, off to india again. That means more fishing for mystery fish that i am completely clueless about. Wish I knew what the locals were talking about when they mention 5 KG fish. But hell, I can throw a hook around for 2 weeks. Last year I hit a few tiny lil catfish, a carp, and this thing. Anyone know what it is?

I've googled, but I get a list of literally thousands of fish. And I don't know which are gamefish. Plus, I have no clue on the area to search because its a random village. But hey, I'll figure something out. Thanks, and I'll have pics when i get back

Have a safe trip. Don't catch anything you can't throw back if you know what I mean.

Well folks, I'm back and dissapointed. Fished the first 2 days there and skunked out. Didn't feel too bad because the entire village was getting skunked daily out there, apparently because it is monsoon season. Then, there was a breakout of malaria, and so instead of fishing, I was off playing mr. american doctor. There are a couple of villagers now feinding for more Tylenol out in india... I basically replaced their joke of a medical system with my own... got on TV too. But then i basically couldn't fish anymore because any waterbody would be teeming with mosquitos and I didn't get a malaria shot this year. I did, however, get some pretty sweet pics of random stuff which i will post when i find which suitcase my camera is in.

And lancer, you gotta check out the music they really got there. There was some festival and they play this ridiculous wild crazy stuff which people just sorta thrashed around to... i got in it as well ill upload a vid.

for some reason, I missed this thread and coulda sworn I had pics up. Sorry bout that.
WTL, we were in an eastern Indian state called Orissa.
Well then...
Stuff that's legal in india

And of course, impersonating a doctor...sorta. Malaria is some nasty stuff. Figured I'd help out as I pretty much consder that village my extended family, as I go there yearly. Felt nice to be able to give back, although all I did was record temperatures and pretty much fill out symptoms. Gave them a basic prescription system because they had none. Whole medical camp was set up at this school:

And me being... Dr.Pranoy?

Might be doing a malaria fundraiser, as the same place got hit with a flood about a week after i left so I'd imagine the mosquito population is soaring. Talked it over in the global forum of our school...
Anyhow, when not being all medical,

the equivalent of 20 cents apeice, along with 500 marbles (ammo) for 3 bucks. not bad. Got some crazy distance and could nail bananas off of trees. My aim is pretty sweet.
Also went to a tribal area to get this:

It's a nasty bow... feels like its going to break on every draw, but never does...
And the festivals are crazy. The music is nuts... it just makes you want to thrash around and flail your body wildly... theres really no dancing. Its not a moshpit but just... i dont even know, I have a video, I'll try to upload it.

those last two make me laugh.
and my cousin, the only kid in india who has touched an american football

Also learned how to toss a net. Fishing was pretty much dead everywhere, the locals hadnt caught a thing all month

Well, that's my trip in a nutshell

bama, thanks a lot man. It's nice to have people not looking down on a kid for once. Kinda foreign feeling. I appreciate it.

zook- I'm pretty sure everyone there was rollin on Hondas... everywhere you turn. Not a single harley, even Suzuki or Kawasaki

JB- I'm laughing although I probably shouldnt. Just a tad on the disturbing side lol
PS- just got photoshop, so I don't have to use it at school anymore
