Default A lure designer in the making

The other night my 6 year old son, Allen, was helping me with some tackle. He looks at a box wth cranks in it and says "I want to color on one to improve it." I had 3 series 6 sexy shad cranks so I gave him one and my set of sharpie pens. He brings it back and the white belly is now red. I used it yesterday. Here is a picture of the crank that my son modified in the mouth of a 4 pound 2 ounce bass. To say he was a little excited when I got home and told him is a mild understatement. He told me it had been the perfect weekend. "I got autographs from some of the flw boys friday night, autographs from all the top 12 pros in the elite series and saw grave digger monster truck on Saturday and my lure caught a big bass." Needless to say, his old man had a pretty perfect weekend too!!!!

The only down side is that now he thinks should "work" on all my cranks!

Anything to get the kids involved in fishin, I wish the only thing my kids ever hit with markers was my tacklebox! We've done sofas, dressers, walls, rugs, each other and once even the dog... parenthood sure is fun!

We are lucky that we never had that problem with Allen. The only thing he ever did was paint is legs John Deere green. Lucky for us that he sat on paper to do this and called us in there to see his handy work instead of tracking through the house.

Kory, see what you have to look forward to. I would not change a moment of it!!!

I will try and post pics of the elite series weigh in very soon.

He is such a cool kid. He is at invention camp this week. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with. Of course, I'm not partial to him at all.

and that series 6 looks tiny in that fishes mouth, obviously a good fish.

That is a great idea. I could see it now; Air brush and acrylic paints are on the way for him.

also i noticed that the fish ate that bait head first. which i always take as a sign of the color and action of the bait being exactly right.
