Was 1 f at daybreak heat pmp wont keep up even with strip heat,anyone else cold. I started a fire and two electric heaters lol now 70 in house.With 20-30mph wind was minus 40 night before .

We are suppose to have some relief tomorrow.. and up to 40 degrees F by this Thursday.

I wonder what the weather-people are gonna name this one.. The Polar Vortex of '14 !?!

Heard Florida even was going to get a -10 wind chill tonight while I wait for our on coming HEAT WAVE this weekend....39 DEGREES!

Oh for you Southern Anglers, you figure wind chill this way.

First you get the wind to your back.
Then you lick your finger and raise it above your head.
You then turn your head facing the wind.

If you notice your A** laying on the ground.....there's a wind chill!

I feel for you guys that have to deal with this on a regular basis. I know this is a bit extreme but still. We hit the teens with wind chill in the single digits yesterday, I can't even imagine negative numbers.

I was in Asheville N.C. Tuesday morning at about 5 a.m. Air temp was -2 and the wind chill was -23! I couldn't get back in the truck fast enough.

My truck actually showed -10 on the way to work Monday morning! I don't know what the wind chill was but we had a north wind at 10-15. It was miserable and I am sick of winter, that's about all I have to say about it.

Now Dean will post the weather up there and tell us about the wind chill up north and make us all look like pansies.

It's actually getting nice up here now, Kory. Will only be -12 with -26 wind chill overnight and tomorrow we'll hit +16 (wind chill +1) for a high.

yep, it's been a bit nippy up here too. Was -25F wind chill the other day ...or so they say. I stayed in my 'cave' the whole day snuggled up by the fire. (okay, I don't have a fire in my lectric house...but I stayed warm!)
