Default Swimbaits?

what are those plastic segmented swimbaits called at walmart?

i've always seen them, but wondered if they work..

if so, how do you rig them?

If it is sort of like a segmented fluke, I think they are a Lake Fork product.

It is made by Lake Fork tackle, its called a live magic shad. Google LFT lures and you will find their website, they have all kinds of good plastic baits.

I don't think they are that high, maybe 6.00 if we are talking about the same thing. I would fish them like a fluke or with a weighted swimbait hook.

I think I might buy one on the way home from work. I have to pass by Baton Rouge on the way home and I don't think I can pass it up. I am contemplating it. I have been wanting to get into jig fishing, and that would be 3 or 4 extra jigs or a couple of packs of trailers for them. We have been playing .25 poker every night on the rig with a $10 buy in and I am up to $140. I only have 2 more nights, so the least I can walk away with is 120. The monkey shall be fed some!

Whatever you do don't fish them on a chatterbait head. You will NOT catch anything on them!

Seriously, they are good baits. Fished on a chatterbait they can be deadly. You can also fish them on a jighead, weighted hook, T-rig, etc.

ya, the lake for swim shad, I got one once, the smelled like garlic! They have great action, the fish like 'em too! The only problem I have with them is that the bait will slide off the hook and come off during the cast some time!

For larger baits, I suggest using one of the two owner hooks that are designed for just such slippage.
I use the weighted beast with a twist lock on most of my swim baits and their long neck hook with the adjustable stopper when I don't want the weight. The long necks are great for most frogs if you want a single hook.

Neither hook is cheap, but the cost has been offset by getting longer life out of my baits. I really hate having a bait messed up from repeated casting rather than a fish.

Yeah, Reb turned me on to them with chatterbaits. They kill the smallies in my local river. Only way I can catch something on a chatterbait.
