Odd occurence
I was fishing tonight, imagine that, almost full moon, air temp reached 80, sunny all day and overcast just starting to set in. Pond fishing from a small pier, throwing lipless cranks and jigs (quarter oz.,rage trailer) and 1 maybe 2 nibbles on jig and nothing else. I'm standing on the pier deciding my next move and my pole with a jig on is hanging over the water maybe 6-9 inches above water, and a dink maybe 10in. largemouth jumps and and strikes jig ( felt a small tick) didn't engulf just tapped it. Different hu? Never had this happen before plus fish were extremely inactive. ........ Which brings me to a question. Are lunar tables, fishing tables (you know the ones, fish between 6am and 7:45am for best catching) bunk or effective? My personal experience is they are bunk! As long and often as I fish I have never had an exceptional success due to a full moon not even night fishing. And the other tables are flat out worthless! What do you think?

One of the only times I follow the lunar table is during the spring, the shad will spawn on the first full moon after the primary bass spawn. Makes for a few days of realy good fishing.

I fish every opportunity regardless of weather/moon etc. However I do keep a fairly detailed log and looking back over the past 50-100 trips I can see a small but noticable improvement in my catch/hour ratio during a new moon and 2-3 days prior. Like T5 I do pay attention to the full moon in spring, except I'm timing the Bluegill spawn. Around here when the 'gills are bedding the LMB are usually in full bore attack mode!
