Default A slow weekend but a good monday

I made it out to one of th elocal resevoirs this morning. This is one of my favorate spots because it sees very little fishing pressure. You have to walk about three miles to get to it and the elevation goes up 2500 foot over the last mile of it.
Because of the distance, I pack very lightly, I put a couple of bags of plastic and one plano box into my camel-back pack.
The water is very clear and starts at ten foot deep at the shore.
I could see bass everywhere. They were suspending next to the large boulders. I started out with a matts lures bluegill. I had some interest, but no strikes. I switched over to a baby bass and got to see the strike. The fish shot out from the edge of the boulder and ambushed the bait sideways. I got a little too eager and set the hook too soon. After that, they didn't show any more interest in that bait.
The wind started picking up and I could see the bass pushing closer to the boulders. I tied on a white tube with 1/8 oz head. I would pitch 5 foot up wind from the boulders and watch the tube drop towards the fish. This technique worked on 7 straight pitches. No monsters in the group, they were all in the 2 lbs mark. I worked my way around the side fo the lake and kept repeating it until I ran out of tubes. I ended up with 18 in a little over three hours.
I could see the big girls a little deeper, but they were not interested in the tube. I tossed a fluke a few times and got one to nip at the tail out of anger, but no real hits.
All in all, it was a good day

I wish. The trail goes through an ecological society, can't even take a bike through it. This time of year, the walk is okay, but in the summer it gets darn hot.
