Default Reel Help

OK, guys, this is driving me nuts. I can fix any spinning or baitcast reel, but I'm having trouble with a dang SPINCAST reel!

I have 2 Zebco 33 Platinums I keep for the person that doesn't fish much. One got some line wrapped around above the spool under the cap that has the line pickup. Got that cleaned out, but in doing so one of the springs on the line pickup-the little post that pops out when you reel-came off. Here is where I need help:

I cannot get the cap/spool off the reel to replace the spring. Apparently there is a clip just above the spool that holds it on but durned if I can find it. You would think there would be a screw at the top of the reel to remove it, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO.......Just a plastic cover.

Any ideas?

Reb, I'm not sure if I follow quite exactly, but the spool has a cap that spins around the spool. The pin comes out of that cap, right? I believe I was able to remove that cap from my Zebco 33 by holding the retrieve handle firm and then twisting the cap counter clockwise. Let me know if thats not what you need.

I'll give it a shot-Discussed it with Zooker and he had no clue either.

Well, in the immortal words of Homer J Simpson,

That did the trick. I owe you one, Keith!

Well, you still weren't worth a damn as far as help goes. We did have a good laugh, though.
