Thumbs up Great day on the water.... or, by the water!

Yeah, by the water, no boat yet!

Good day on the water, I got 10 fish all together, 2 good ones, and a really good one! Read on for the story!

So I left around 11:00, and got there around 11:30.

Started off throwing a 7" YUM worm on a shallow flat, no takers. Picked up my spinning reel with a weightless speed worm, still none. Took up the 7" worm again, felt a hit, my line went fly off, I set the hook, and my line snapped (14lb flouro)!! Must been a pickerel (yes, my dad caught a few in there before), or a gar. Retie another 7" worm, only with a keel weighted hook, got one on the flat (1 fish). left that spot for where the flat drops. Started with the 7" first cast there to an isolated patch of hydrilla, felt a tick tick, set the hook. Little bass, 12" or so (2 fish). Kept fishing there, got another hit on the 7" worm. Little bit bigger! 16" probably (3 fish). Few casts later an other one.... same size as the last, started to look like it's gonna be a pretty good day with 4 fish! Got another one on the drops off (5 fish), got my legal limit! Nothing more in that spot on the Yum worm, took up the trick worm, nothing there probably to deep! It was pretty hard to move spots since I got 4 fish there. Moved to a deep pocket. Kept with the YUM worm at first, nothing at all! Weightless trick worm, still nothing. Tried the yum worm again, nothing. This was looking kinda glum, switched to a wacky rig, I was pretty sure I would catch something there. But to my surprise, nothing?! That worm was sitting on my rod since last week, so it was stiff, I went to get another finesse worm, but didin't have any with me. So I took a 6" u-tail worm instead, yes, wacky rigged it! Nothing?!

Moved spots to another drop off (from where the deep pocket turns a little bit shallower. I started with the yum worm, nothing. Switched to the wacky rig. First cast with that, felt a thump, and my line went off, to the right, I set the hook! My rod was really bowed over, I knew this was a good one, I loosed my drag a little (8lb test mono). She started running to me, I reeled up, got the line tight, and she goes up and does a jump + 360 spin! Really nice fish! I got her close, and lipped her, measured her 18" fish, and plump, six fish today, and one good one! Kept with the wacky worm, and put some power bait sent on it. Took another cast, as soon as it hits the water it disappears, I set the hook and a little 8" comes out da water (7 fish)! Few more cast and nothing, I put some more sent on, and two cast later, I feel a thump, and my line moves off! I see a bug green head shake where my worm was, nuther good one looks like! This time it was staying down and bull dogged taking drag, I get it close and she comes up, and trashes it's head around (not a full jump), and dives for some weeds, I get it and the 5lbs of grass it's got with this to the bank, find it's mouth and lip it! Measurer it, it goes 19", throw her back. That's 8 fish and two good 'uns! I get one more, little, 10 inches or so, 9 fish today. Than I phone rings, it's my mom telling me she's coming to pick me up. So I walk over to near the parking lot and still fish, make one long cast with the wacky rig in the place where I was culling them before.

I hear the beep of the truck, and the tick of a fish! So I set hard on it (long cast)! Starts bull dogging like the last one, than comes up and does a great jump! all of it outa the water! By now my mom's coming to see what taking me. I get it closer, and it gets into some weeds, I pull it and the weeds up! I pull all the weeds off, and lip her! I let my line slack to get the hook out, but I don't need to, it falls right out! I measured her and it goes 20" and pretty fat! Bigges fish of the day, and the last possible seconds!

It was a really good day with 10 fish, and 2 good ones, and one great one!

Sorry about the long windedness, and non-picatude!
