great evening on the boat
i went out to the lake with my dad on the boat last evening/night to see what i could come up with. started out with a frustrating stretch of overhanging trees and bushes, getting nothing and changing baits every five seconds. as we were about to enter a cove, still nothing, i decide to tie on a shad a licious swimbait. already frustrated, i look at the knot after tying it on and think to myself, "man this knot looks terrible it won't hold at all", but im all frustrated and had wasted like a lot of braid that night already and i think to myself, " nothings gonna bite this anyway.." (this comes into play later on)
then as we enter the cove i had on plastic worm t rigged with a bullet weight around weed edges. bang. first fish at around 5- 5.5 lbs. http://s992.photobucket.com/albums/a...ckbass1.jpg%26 i then continue to fish the weed edge and nail another fish- 3.5-4 lbs this time http://s992.photobucket.com/albums/a...ckbass3.jpg%26 then the swimbait knot comes back to haunt me. i then start to throw the swimbait around weed edges. so typically with my junky knot something has to happen right??? yea it did. a big swirl and i start fighting it. two seconds later a 10 lb. striper rockets itself from the water and i reel in nothing but a loopy twirl on the end of my knot. typical. anyway i continue to fish the swimbait and yank the last of the evening. 4-4.5 lbs this time http://s992.photobucket.com/albums/a...ckbass2.jpg%26 Great night overall, wouldve LOVED to have seen that striper but i guess i walked away from it with a special lesson: if the knot doesnt look good, you will have a giant fish break you off! cool!................. |
