Bullet sinker preferences?
It's that time of year when I start purchasing the needed stuff I'm going to have to buy for the comming year. One of the things I'm running short on are bullet sinkers for using with my weighted TRigs. Up to now I have always used regualar lead bullet sinkers. The cheeper the better. Usually painted to match the color of the plastic I was using. Over the past few years, so many options have become available. I could get my normal lead sinkers, or I can buy tungsten, brass, and so on. So before I buy my sinkers this year, I thought I would see if anyone here had a prefered bullet sinker for your t rigged lure presentations. Has anyone switched from lead to another alternative and felt glad they did so?

I found some YUM tungsten sinker on sale at walmart for .25 a pack in 1/2, 3/8/, 1/4 and 1 oz and they are great. They come with a pack of yum juice and you pour it in the container with the sinkers and they absorb the scent and when you put them in the water the scent is disperced. They are kinda messy though putting them on new. I bought walmart out of these so if you can find them on sale I would go with that route. I got around 100 or so assorted sinkers for 4 or 5 bucks.

Keith---I have been getting the larger box of like 100 lead weights at our local Academy then using Powder Paint to paint them. Have also spray painted them with Epoxy Spray paint, but couldn't find any Green Pumpkin so got the powder paint for that. I can not justify the high cost of tungsten weights.
If you decide to spray paint them yourself, I string about 10-15 weights on a wire spray them then hang the wire up for them to dry. Wire keeps the hole open plus handy when spraying & drying.

bullet weights
Tru-Tungsten.
Smaller, denser, no plastic sleeve in the center. Gives you a better feel of the weight while on the bottum. Cost a little more, but I say they are worth it.

Not very often that I agree with 2 people at the same time but Zook and Bassnman are desad on with the tungsten. I have proved it to myself that tungsten is more senitive even to an old fart like me. This holds even more true in cold water ......when the water is cold of course it is more dense and vibration and feelings are dulled. Going to tungsten I was able to regain the feel of the bottom which we all know how important that is.

True Tungsten also sells weights called Ultra Steel 2000 which is not lead but neither is it Tungsten. Plus it's very economical. True Tungsten claims they are a very hard metal, and gives improved feel over lead. And they are also less bulky that most non lead option sinkers. They might be worth checking into.

Keith, if you want to use lead and powder paint them it is not hard. If you decide to try it let me know and I'll tell you how I do it. I drove from Dallas to San Antonio this afternoon and am too tired to post it right now.

cheap lead weights. Whatever Wal Mart has at the time. Sprinkle a little water in the bag when you buy them to get the shine off and after a few days they're ready to fish. The type of weight is the least critical part of the presentation other than the size, of course.
