Default Labor Day Weekend Report

Had 13 guests down to my house on the Piankatank River. Arrived late Wed night and had few drinks. OK a few too many for the ride out to bay was bit rough. Broke a flip up seat on a big wave. But we where able to setup on a good outgoing and began to bail sharks. Then a southern ray the size of a VW hit and almost spooled me. Kept so busy did not take any pics. No big drum but we got some major pullage. Friday we headed up the Dragon began flipping edges and scored many puppy drum and a bunch of LGMouth. Other scored bowfin, puppy drum and LGMouth. Here are pics from the Dragon.

So later that evening we head out from my dock and continue the quest for drum spots as we have a little spot count tourney among us.

Trout where caught but most where small the next two evenings.
On Sunday we headed again to the bay and got 25 sharks and 4 southern rays. A few blue fish too.
But the spot count was mine till late Sunday when a 15 spot puppy was caught and left my 23 lead in the dust of second place. Winner got a nice prize and lots of respect.
Today I went all fly and got four more puppy drum and a 8 lb blue cat.

Some pics that are not so good of the shark and rays.

The problem with small sharks is they come in so green that you need to wait a bit before hook removel.
One almost 3 foot long I held too close to remove the hook whipped me in the privates.. dang that hurt..

Nice pics. Sorry I couldn't be there. Now show us the real pics. You know the ones of you and Dave and the rest of the gang after you have had a few too many......

Lucky you used the wrong end to whip your privates,or might be missing.
Bet those spots and trout are a ball on a fly rod.

Yes a blast on fly.. The best part is when the Police showed up to check fishing licenses and Steve got so nervous he pulled down his pants..

We explained it was an tick that would not go away. "It happens when gets nervous"

No one wants to see those. Pre-guest prep meeting let's call it. Woke up to do yard work hungover. Rough seas took it's toll on more than the seat. We discovered that I am an angry horker. Neither of us had much interested in the spirits after that night. Beer, now that's different.
