Default Terminator T-2 spinnerbaits

Apparently snapping turtles really love the chartreuse/blue/white T-2's. I caught a most ferocious snapper today that hit the spinner as soon as it touched the water. I thought I had this humongous fish until It was clear there were no runs being made, just a ton of weight and a tight line. Finally I got it close enough to start seeing something and I thought it was a carp, but alas it was old snapper. He was PISSED, too. Had to have been really old because he wasn't pulling hard at all, surprisingly. Anyway, he chomped on the spinner enough to chew the skirt off, and I tried pulling him out of the water to remove the rascal from the pond, but it was no good. He was hissing and snapping at anything in his path. Pretty neat to see, along with the coat of moss growing on his back. Eventually, he got the hook out of his mouth and swam away, and my fishing sucked for the rest of the day. 5 bites, not one solid enough to even get a good hookset. Missed all 5, fished for 4 hours today, too. BTW, the t-2 titanium really does snap right back to perfect. I had that sucker pulled straight tryin to hoss that turtle outta the water and when he came off, it went right back to normal.

Great to know the T2 is that tough. What type of rig and line were you using to get him in?

20lb big game and just a Rhino RSC5 SPINCASTING reel. just and old setup I use for doing whatever fishing...I mostly use spinning gear for this pond. That line really is tough...I pulled the turtle completely out of the water and out of a dig-in he was attempting and the line never even thought of being damaged in any way. I checked it over afterwards and it was still perfect. Surprised that the reels drag could handle that much weight, though.
