Default attention boat owners

a friend with a 2008 allison found this on his swing away tounge...

the tounge bolt broken..

he found it while loading the boat in texas and was returning to western tenn... he figures it broke during the drive to lake fork...

those of you with swing away tounges CHECK YOUR BOLTS...

Thanks for the heads up Zooker.

It had to be under a lot of stress to shear that bolt....

Am I looking at that picture wrong? isn't the safety cables hooked in FRONT of the swing point instead of the important side??? The side wit da boat

Hmmm, that bolt doesn't look like the factory bolt that belongs there....this did however make me check out my tongue, which is a swing away

i am wondering if ALL the rigs with this swing away trailer has this same type of bad bolt? and if so, whoever gets one of these rigs needs to go and get a stronger bolt.

Man, Just another reason I'm glad I got a BassCat. It using a 3 bolt and pinning system. 1 bolt for the hinge and 2 pins that have to be taken out to swivel.

Thanks Zooker, I was considering putting one on my trailer to gain the walkaround room in my garage.

Did he overtorque the bolt when he put it in? That's a surefire way to break a bolt, even one that's grade 8. Either that or there was a defect in the bolt. Lucky man, he is. I would have cried if he wrecked that boat. I have wanted an Allison for a long time, maybe when I retire from the good ol' US Army I'll get me one.
