Curt at www.dirtyjigstackle.com has some phenomenal bluegill imitators! Alabama Bream, Pumpkinseed Bream, Bayou Bluegill, Green Sunfish, and even Winneconne Craw. Here is a pic of my favorite, the Alabama Bream, deep inside a rather large mouth!

Bluegill, green sunfish, redear, pumpkinseed, etc??? Colors all depend on what you're trying to duplicate.

you can make your own based on what you see locally. www.fishingskirts.com has pretty much everything you need for the skirts. You can buy the jig heads just about anywhere online, BPS, Cabela's, Dicks, and Gander Mountain should all have them.

To me it all depends on water clarity and sky condition. If its a clear water with bright sky I like a skirt that is a medium light green with alittle bit of black or blue fleck in it to look like a female bluegill. But if its alittle stained or cloudy, I like to immitate a male blue gill with a jig with a green skirt, and a few strands of or yellow or orange and a touch or red. Always make sure the lighter colore strands are always down so it looks like natural countershading like a real fish. Good fishin

Other than jigs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jerkbaits, flukes...all of these can be gotten colored like a bluegill. A little orange on the belly, a touch of green on the side/top...

Well, I would say blue gill swim baits. But I have recently had some really good fishing days with a booyah spinner bait that resembles a bluegill.

Tell ya what guys, go to the BassFishin.com main page and click onto the Maximum Exposure section. Then check out the bluegill swimbait made by Mattlures! I've never ever seen such a true reproduction of a fish before. It's absolutely incredible.

You nailed it Keith. I have mentioned Matt Lures in several threads. Plus it doesn't hurt that he is out in in San Diego.

You can't beat the Bandit bluegill pattern either. Great crankbaits for a good price.

I used to do a killer Bluegill imitation. I'd get in the water and dazzle the crowd with my piscine mimicry. Sadly, I had to give it up after I was severely bitten by a large and irate spawning bass.

Hey Lancer, wasn't that the same day you were doing your seagull imitation down at the beach and people started tossing you pieces of bread and crackers?

Naw, that was BEFORE the Bluegill schtick and AFTER the Wet 'n Starving Kitten-with-an-injured-paw routine.
I got tired of crackers and told the bastadges I'd do a true-to-life imitation of a gull hovering and pewping on them if they didn't start tossing shrimp (fried, with tartar sauce.) Worked well. One even tossed me a Stella Artois to wash it all down with.
