Default Line Threading on a Bait Caster?

Just a question, Sorry for the bad picture, but my cellphone just aint that good.

I picked up an abu garcia and berkley lightning rod combo at dicks the other day (I think other members have mentioned it before) and was wondering about the proper way to thread the line. Is it supposed to go over (on top of) the metal bar that is circled, or underneath.

Any help would be great.

That bar is to keep the left side plate on... the line is supposed to go from the spool through the line guide (under the bar)

Yes! It's 'spose to go through the circle thing! If it dose not than the line will bunch up in one place, than on the next cast you'll backlash because the spool could not turn properly. I accidentally that and got a whole spool of line lost!

When it dose back lash the line gets caught deep inside the spool, Kev's trick wont work on this...... that only thing to do is get the scissors!

btw what line is that?

That bar you're talking about is awful loose, too. Tighten that thing down before your left side plate goes flying...

I just unscrewed it to see if i could fix it the easy way (by unscrewing the bar all the way) but that didnt work. I eventually was able to thread the line back through the line guide. It all worked out in the end. Thanks for your concern MB!!!!
