LOL, thats what I apire to do when setting the hook on a frog bass. I keep telling my partner that im gonna turn one inside out. It sucks the fish died but totally not your fault, if you ease up on hooksets you will loose frog bass. I lost 3 last week in a row, got 1 right next to the boat after pulling him thru a very long mat of lilly pads and stumps, that I had thought I laid the hammer down on while setting the hook.

I would chalk it up to freak accident and keep on fishin.

Imagine if you did that on a personal best fish. Say you killed a 12 pounder on a hookset and it floated in to you. Would you feel the same about that accomplishment, or would it be soured a bit? Thats a question for the board.

soured of course, but there would be nothing you could do about it. A hook is a hook It is dangerous, but the majority of the fish you hook will be fine.

if it's my hook that killed it it's kinda like my bullet. 12 pounder goes on the wall. may even leave the bait in for the story.

i have to agree with him. reguardless of the size of the fish. if it still grab your bait it's all good..

a 2 pound 6 ounce fish is a lil fish in all terms of it. but a decent fish when ya have to work for them..

Do you use an automatic log-in configuration? Last week, Photobucket had a slight melt-down and urged all member to change passowrd immediately. Check to make sure you are logged-in in the top, right corner of the screen.

I understand how you feel Zook. When spiderwire first came out I spooled my C- Rig rod to try it out. The very first fish that hit was a smallmouth about 14 inches long. The hit was so much harder than what I was used to that I over reacted and slammed the hook straight out between its eye tearing a sizable hole it its head. I went home and respooled with mono and didnt use braid again for years. Fish2win

I was more thinking about eating that catfish. But Dink bass in the 9 to 10 range are'nt that bad eating. Since the ones i eat come mostly from a over populated lake. That they don't want put back in the water. I am really improving the fishery of that lake. In this lake i can catch 100 a day easily. They taste real good fried with alittle Corn meal & Red pepper. Topped off with alittle lemon & butter.
