that is a great buy. that skeet reese revo is a cool looking reel. i have only played with it as bass pro but it feels like a great reel.

Moose, I beleive Johnny Morris owns Pflueger.I know he bought Pflueger & Browning several years ago. Shakesphere owned Pflueger and Zebco owned Browning When Johnny Morris bought them.I know he still owns Browning but I cannot tell you if he still owns Pfleuger.Maybe someone here remembers pflueger as a Bass pro shop catalog exclusive item somewhere around 1987-89 ? I can't imagine ever calling it the best baitcaster ? I would call it a does everything fairly well but not the best of anything reel. I am not always correct but I am almost certain on this subject.

I can't ever imagine agreeing with Zooker either but it does happen from time to time. P N J

One of the guys I fish with on the reservoirs whose been at it for more then 40 years bought a few Revo STX's, and the line guides popped out. He had to crazy glue them back in. Go figure. think I'll just stick to my Daiwa's.

I have mostly Pfluegers - no Patriarch's. Have you guys seen the '09 President casting reel? Redesigned and looks similiar to the Patriarch without the high gloss finish. I may be upgrading to the new Presidents come spring. Here it is:

joel and pnj i think you north eastern guys are just to dang hard on equipment. own several revos and have yet to have any sort of problems.

Fishing out of any one of a number of rowboats I have plus the loading and unloading of those boats, and getting all my gear into a hatchback, does cause some wear and tear issues. But my Daiwa's are like old Timex watches, "They take a licking and keep right on ticking".

I am very surprised at the lack of Shimano love on this forum! I have a lot of reels and the Curado/Chronarch series are the best bang for the buck (especially now that Tacklewarehouse has Chronarchs for $189!)

I have thrown a lot of Abu reels and they are nice but they don't compare to the cadillac feel of the Shimanos. I feel that Daiwas cast very far and are light as hell but lack the smoothness of the Shimanos, I view my Daiwas as Honda S2000's fast and light but lacking comfort.

tell me about it. For whatever reason, the Shimano reels do not get much love on this forum. I am a big Shimano fan. (8 of my 10 baitcasters are Shimano Chronarch Mgs)

I only own a few bait casting reels and use each a little differently do calling any one of them best would be difficult for me.

I will say that so far the Johhny Morris elite has been the easiest to use, but the 7.1:1 gear ratio doesn't help a whole lot in the winter months. Been using it for my plastics, spinner baits and topwater. On a 7' Medium Rod

I just picked up my first Revo this week and have been impressed with it, but am not able to cast it as far as the Morris. (different breaking systems and I probably need to fiddle with it some more)
the plan is to use it for my cranks and other lures. On a 7 foot medium heavy

Shimano Cardiff. Has been great for my larger swim baits. On a 7'6" heavy

Shimano Bantam. Frogs and jigs. (only issue has been the 4.7:1 gear ratio when I need to get the frog back into the slop quickly) on a 7' heavy.

I have tried to use each reel for all applications and so far this appears to be the technique that works best for me with these setups.

Due to the fact that my boat is not really a boat but a small 2 person pontoon, more than 4 rigs at a time is not very likely.

I love my revo's. I have a Winch, 2-6.4 to 1 SX's, 2 7.1 to 1 SX's and 1 6.4 to 1 Premier. I've used a lot of reels over the years and the revo seems to be the best fit to me personally. I've never had any mechanical problems with em, but they sure aren't easy to take apart for cleaning.

fill them with braid and set the brakes all off but one, adjust the spool and sling any lure you want then tell me what you think!
