Default lottery

Well, I bought my tickets and got laughed at. The girl that sold them to me asked if I was gonna share with her if I won and that she'd already bought hers. A group of us was there and the dreaming started as we shared what we'd spend the money on. Dream houses, dream cars, moving to the bahammas all came up from the rest. And I told mine and there was a pause of silence. Then chuckling turned to laughter as the cashier asked, "250 million and all you come up with is a bass pond and a bass boat?"

What can I say? Gonna be a big pond and one heck of a bass boat. I might even build a house beside it. Yea, I'll be able to get up in the morning, walk out on the front porch in my draws and shoot a deer, then walk to the back porch and onto the pier and catch a bass, scratch, and have breakfast. Not nessicerily in that order.

Me and you must have been out that shed again passing that ham around, cause that sounds like my lottery dreams.

man its totally funny you mentioned this...lol...i went to the casino's in oklahoma last saturday for my sister's 18th birthday...usually i play poker and steer clear of the slots....but this was a family occassion..anyway,within 1/2 an hour my aunt is up nearly 2k.
so I start thinking ''tonight im gonna win money for my revo stx and st croix mojo rod''

everyone ended up ahead by a couple hundred...even my sister.....i left with 20 bucks in my pocket
haha.

when i do have extra cash...i play the odds on lottery tickets....i go to thier website and search the newest $2-5 tickets....and then look to see which has the less claims for the money amount...go out and buy 7 of those same tickets (each roll is gurantee'd a certain amount)....better odds of winner bigger.
me and a buddy do this.....he's up around $700......me?....Im dead-fricking even

i have absolutely no luck with chance gambling......but im a sucker for easy money..

good luck with the lottery.....

''money won,is twice as sweet as money earned''-paul newman (the color of money)

Are you playing the scratch offs or number draws waffleJaw? I have no luck at all with the pick three, four, 5, and have only gotten like 28 bucks from powerball. I pretty much break even with the scratch offs.

I know there's got to be a system to the pick 3, cause I see the same people cashing them in all the time. But I can't get none of them to let me in on it. lol

Yea, I imagine it's like finding a good fishing hole or technique. If you let too many know about it, everybody starts doing it, and then the fish switch up and it won't work for ya anymore.

The lottery and scratch-off tickets are for suckers!!!

Heck, scratch-off tickets aren't even a "game of chance", and there are some recent class-action lawsuits in progress to stop them from being called "games". In a game, the outcome is not certain. The scratch-off games have a pre-determined payout, and thus don't meet the definition. At least, in a casino, your chances are random (not slot machines though...not random at all anymore).

You'd be much better off taking that $15 dollars a week and putting it in a good mutual fund in a Roth IRA, and letting that sit for 40 years.

With an 8% rate of return (the historical average of the DJ), you'd have $210,000 tax-free. Now just imagine if you were able to put in more than $15 per week.

I know it's not as exciting as hoping to win the lottery, but you really can make your own lottery.

I really believe in the odds for scratch offs....call me an idiot, call me crazy....but breaking even is enough for me to keep trying..im not losing any money, and thier not gaining from me..not trying to become rich, but one good pay off to prove my theory correct.....i have a loose system with plenty of room for flaws and fails.....but niehter has happened...yet.

Now figure in the economy, the rate of inflation your prez (I'm gonna get it for that comment. ) is going to inflict upon us with his actions in the next 3 years, maybe 7, and the inflation it causes for the next 40 years. I figure $210,000 will be worth about $500 dollars in forty years, maybe, being optimistic for ya. That is if the bank don't fail and the insurance don't dry up. Stick that in a IRA and blow. Don't be bustin' my bubble. hehehehe.....

Don't take this the wrong way Waffle, because I know most of what we talk about on here is half-kidding. But what you just said about summed up why guys like me don't want to pay for other people's retirements, healthcare, etc. Instead of wasting my money on instant gratification, I hoard it in the bank. My reward for being a saver? Constantly being called a greedy, selfish Republican, and getting taxed out the wazoo to pay for those who chose instant gratification all their lives.

The funniest part of it is...those same people take my attitude as an insult to their maturity. They ought to take it as a compliment, as in "I know you are a smart, capable person who is able to take care of their own life, if you'd just stop to think it through." Come on people...start carrying your own weight. You should be ashamed of yourself if you don't.

Wise words nofear. I don't think it's stupid and youre right. Though I don't think there's anything wrong with blowing $20 bucks a month on a pipe dream either as long as the bills are paid and some is saved. I was kidding with you in that earlier post btw.

Haha...well, we were posting simultaneously, so my post wasn't a response to yours at all. Man, I know you're just goofin' around. I don't necessarily have a problem with ANYTHING people want to spend their own money on, as long as it's legal...they earned it, just like I earned mine. I just know that 99% of lottery tickets are bought by the bottom 25% of earners, who will eventually be coming to me, with their palms up. It's just a sore subject with me.

half-kidding?...I have a bad habit of 80-90% kidding..lol..but no worries,I didnt mean to come off like im spending large amounts of money on a silly-odds against me theory......like 1/4 said, maybe 10-20 bucks every other month max,for a cheap thrill.

I got my 401k ,my healthy savings account , etc,etc
and my cheap thrills are bottom of the totem pole of priorities.

i just enjoying taking small risks, and gambles.
