Do you think we will ever get to mars?
After watching the discovery channel, it seem like the programs point's out the fact of us getting there is hopeless. All the obstacles in the way are just staggering. They said also 2020 is a target date they have in mind. Do you think its worth the time an effort to make a mission to Mars? They said it would unlock many keys to the universe if we found life and or water that some where out there other places would have life as well.
I just find this soo interesting, and I know there are a few guys on the site who like this sort of topic, so I thought I would throw it out there. Robby.

I'll bite.
I think it would be beneficial, but not worth it. IMO, we can spend our time money and effort doing different things that would be more beneficial, sooner.

There is life out there. I know, they took me up there about 10 years ago. I was part of a experiment. They brought me back and everything was fine. However over the last ten years Ive put on about 60 pounds. I think I got an alien baby in my stomach. Seriously, for science and the space program- it will be great. For the general public- interesting for those who are into it, others will think it's a big waste of money. I just hope they find cures for diseases when they get there.

IMHO, I believe we will EVENTUALLY make it to Mars. But I also Believe that there are more important things that we could be doing. I mean why should we be trying to learn about another planet when we don't even fully understand ours. For example, we could be using all the time and money put into space research and invest it exploring like the ocean, which we really don't know that much about.
But that's just my opinion.

I believe first it's possible and second definently not a waste of money. Most of the things that y'all take for granted were made due to our space program.
A couple of examples: GPS Cell Phones High Density Batteries Water purrifcation Weather prediction (including seeing Hurricanes 1000's of miles before they hit us) |

That's a good point... Also something that most wouldn't wouldn't think of.

Nope, and here's why. Go to www.YouTube.com and search for Nibiru or Planet X. In 2012 this planet, accually a brown dwarf star, will pass between Earth and the sun causing a polar shift which will reek havoc on the environment with 300mph winds, massive earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and kill off 90% of Earth's population. The worlds governments know about this and are doing nothing. Are You Ready? Pt.1: http://youtube.com/watch?v=O96ZMPXuv1A Pt.2: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Sxfs1iEg144&feature=related Pt.3: http://youtube.com/watch?v=U-3RLx_4Y5Y&feature=related TOP THAT!!!! LoL -Eric P.S. I hope it's all a joke but, I'm going to start a thread called "The Return of Planet X".
