Default Ticks

Is anybody else having issues with ticks this year? I thought they'd just infested the woods around my house and I sprayed. But I got wrapped up in them earlier when I stopped to throw a few casts into a pond. Haven't had that happen in years. Also, is there any bug repelent you can use on ticks?

No help with ticks. We have tent worms like crazy this year! Never have I even considered finding a way to kill them off till now. I do know that Raid Ant & Roach spray works on them. Not so sure about ticks though.
Try a hammer, preferably a 20 oz

To kill the ticks already on you, I wouldn't recommend Raid. Instead, do what I do:

Shave half of the area where the ticks are. Soak the remaining hair in lighter fluid, and set it on fire. When they run out onto the bare area to escape the fire, stab them with an ice pick.

You're just jealous you didn't think of it first. But I hafta figure that it's not that effective at removing ticks, fleas, lice, etc., it's just that anybody who tries it doesn't really give a damn anymore about having a few parasites.

Nope. Never caught anything actually. Did have a scare once though! Not gonna go into the symptoms but I thought for sure I'd contracted something. Went into base medical, of course I had to explain why I was there to an incredibly beautiful woman when I checked in, just my luck. They ran every test in the book on me, including the q tip swab . Everything came back negative. Turned out i had a bladder infection. They started naming off the possible causes and when they got to "excessive alcohol use" I knew we had a winner!

LOL theres gotta be a photo of that coming, good idea mississippiBoy

We get them the most in april and may when mushroom hunting

One year Tony and I were right across big bear creek in Smiths cove mushroom hunting in the back of the cove, and when we got back to the cabin (the log cabin at big bear) he found the tiniest tick was in him, it was like a big freckle. It got him on the toe and turned infected by the time we got home, he went to the doc and they took care of it.
I came home once and a tick got my wife in the middle of the back and was infected later, another trip to the doc.

Any wet year like this one makes for lots of ticks and skeeters

No! Florida has never had really bad ticks that I can remember. In Wisconsin this time of year, if you go out to take out the trash with bare feet, you'll get a tick er tow on ya!

i've never had a problem with them. but the other day i pulled of what i thought was a weed seed [ we have these nasty buggers that clamp to your skin] and i think it may have been a baby tick.

i dont think it came off in one piece either.

Keep some anti-biotic on it. My parents always told me to soak a cottonball or rag with alcohol and wipe down the spot every so often for a couple days after pulling one off. That was back in the days before neospoin though. They use to make me put mercurachrome on everything too.
