I know this wasn't you, but I am pretty sure that everyone in Missouri is related. So worse case scenario, he is a cousin.

I love this part:

"He also plans to seek advice "from people who know about money" about whether to take the jackpot in 30 payments over 29 years or the lump-sum amount of $124,875,122."

Cause the 8.6 million a year probably won't hold him over till the next payment Why give away half of it to have your half now?

I'd take the lump sum I think. I know it sounds stupid to give up that much money, but when you think about how easily things go bankrupt, and fail, and don't pay people what they owe these days. I'd just trust myself to invest it and set up bank accounts, etc.. more than I trust to get that payment every year for 29 years.

BB - You make more money on the interest collected over 30 years if you take the lump sum. At 7% your money doubles every 7 years or is that 10. 7% of 120 million is what?? 8.4 million a year. Minus taxes....Uncle Sam needs his cut.

Only if they're born there. When I retire in MO, I'll be related to noone. Unless my daughter moves back there

You don't give up 1/2 by taking the lump sum. He's losing roughly 1/2, but taxes are probably 80 million of that half.
Lump sum is the only way to go as far as I'm concerned.
Penalty plus millions in the bank drawing interest beats the heck out of a yearly payment and a government trying to decide where their gonna find the funds for their next bailout.

Yep it was me that won! The first thing I am going to do with my money is buy every house in your neighborhood except for yours and rent them out to all of my backwoods, toothless, banjo picking, opossum frying, rebel flag waving, Hank Williams jr blarring, yeeha yelling cousins and as a house warming present I am going to buy each family 25 hogs to roam around the neighborhood. I will also be paying for a truck load of concrete blocks so that they can get all of their rusted out cars back on blocks. And each youngin will be givin a Red Ryder BB Gun and a slingshot.

LOL none of the above is meant negative towards rednecks, I am one myself.

When Caitlyn is older she will have the pick of the litter for which of my nephews she wants to be her man. Only problem is I have about the same amount of nieces as nephews so she might have some competition.

Ya'll can quit ragging on my 6th couzin 4 times removed now. His momma and my 2nd couzins daddy weren't "officially" hitched at the time of his birth. Then someone said it wasn't right cuz the boys daddy was really the brother of her sister-in-law. Just had a beer or 12 and things got out of control ya know.

Gotta love incest jokes. I work with 2 brothers. I told them I figured out why they don't look alike.
PJ looks like their mom and Joe looks like their uncle
