When removing weeds that have caused your trolling motor to stop. It is best advised to turn the trolling motor off. Other wise it friggen hurts!!!!

While I avoided the blades, for the most part, the whipping weeds were another thing. To add to your mental picture, the first to shots were to my forehead.

He isnt kidding... was putting the cover on my Dads boat once. Cover land on footpedal and a took a prop to the arm. Luckily i was wearing carhart. Didnt cut me but hurt like hell. Dad in teh other hand slipped and fell trailering the boat and reached out to catch himself...on the trolling motor blade... 8 stitches in his hand.

I ALWAYS turn my trolling motor off when I'm not trolling.

Mallen, Mine does not have reverse.
BassinNC. I also turn mine off when not trolling. I was moving through an area and due to wind I was on constant. I looked down to see that th eblade was not spinning and began to pull weeds off of it. The next thing I knew. Whap, Whap, Whap.
It is almost funny how many times I got hit before I realized what a bad idea it was.
