Really? I thought even Texas had outlawed full auto. I gotta move to Texas!

Technicly we can carry openly here without a carry permit, but if try it anywhere other than the shooting range or on private property they can nail you for inciting. That is if I read the law right. They got ours so screwed up it's hard to tell heads or tails about them.

Getting a full auto weapon is way more complicated and expensive than going and getting a $200 Class III stamp. I do know people that own full autos legally though. We also have gun ranges that rent full auto weapons to shoot in the range. They go for about $70 an hour plus ammo.

I've been a TX CHL (concealed handgun license) holder for about 8 yrs. I carry daily. In my opinion open carry is foolish, I wouldn't do it if it were legal. The element of surprise gives you the upper hand should you find yourself in a sticky situation, i would never compromise that.

TX also has a transportation law that states, anyone who may legally own a handgun, isn't engaging in criminal activity and isn't a member of street gang may carry their weapon concealed in their vehicle without a chl.

Plot to blow up the dam.

This doesn't really sound that probable but it's still crazy to think about.

Same here Jrob... in Ky the law states that any firerarm carried in a factory installed glove box is not considered concealed... so no permit needed to have on loaded and ready to go in the glove box. I like the open carry law when i am fishing and when i am 4-wheeling and hunting as it gives me a little more comfort as my IWB holster can get uncomfortable after hours out in the heat... there is much to be said about deterence... some say that showing your gun only allows the criminal to target youfirst... but 99.9% of badguys out there are not Alan Rickman from Die Hard.. they are punks who simply change their mind if their is even a possibility you will shoot back.. they see open carry and simply walk away...

They know better... as it is now they have very minimal instrusion by law enforcement... they kill that many people by blowing up a dam, and they are finished... they then become terrorists as high on the list as Radical Islamists and the Marines start showing up instead of federales and DEA...

Participating in outdoor, away from public activities like you've described are about the only times I would consider open carry. IWB can get uncomfortable when it is hot outside and you are engaged in physical activity. I can think of a few other instances where oc could be used as a deterrent but on the whole I like to keep my weapon hidden and off the radar of everyone around me.

Just fill the lakes in where tex meets mex, problem solved.
And while they carry full auto a 37 mm flare launcher has a much longer range.

Man, I hate to see this stuff. I have friends who have gone to Falcon for the last four years, and they decided against it this time around for this reason alone. Sucks you have to watch your *** even while fishing.

I carry concealed every day everywhere I go...but I believe I'd be outmatched in this situation.

I think staying on the Texas side and within reasonable distance from a crowded ramp area would be enough of a safety net to at least fish it. Just stay aware of your surroundings and be prepared to haul hiney ifyou gotta go... and for extra measure having an AR and 6 30rd mags in the boat may be a good idea...

We need some good ole boys armed to the hilt to get on the lake in a Mongolian Trojan Horse, err...mini yacht.

I hope someone gets that reference.

Haha, I get the reference, and then again, I dont. That could be a problem since I coined the reference, but since I normally dont know what Im talking about well just let it slide.

Haha, It's a South Park reference. The Mongorians brought a Mongorian Trojan Horse filled with sweet and sour pork inside the City Wall.

There was a kidnapping scare so the parents get the Chinese food guy to build a wall around the city. The Mongolian Warriors come riding in on their horses and try to knock down the City Wall. The City Wok guy can't pronounce c's, they all come out as sh's.

Wow, I drug this thread way off topic!
