Default Cold cold water..

First day out fishing, took the boat @ 5:30am and it was a balmy 38 degrees as a cold front moved into the area overnight it began to snow..I knew the day was going to be a crap shoot, but I've got cabin fever so bad I just couldn't stand it, and I don't really care weather wise I don't pay attention to the fronts if I did I would probably choose to stay home and I've caught plenty of fish during cold fronts....drove to the first lake approx 40 mins away, unable to launch do to ice jam at the landing, second lake another 20 mins away was 3/4 open with large ice chunks floating all over the lake and many coves still iced in (yes, I was the only crazy one out there!) water temps 35-38 degrees, still snowing. About 2 hours into the trip and my hands are so cold I could barely manage to tie a knot, when suddenly "BAM" a solid strike and first bass of the year 3lber in 12 feet...pitch back out a black jig and "BAM" 5lb female second cast...by now I had completely forgot that my hands were bright red and mostly frozen...the bite died to a quick halt, about an hour passes and caught a small 2 or so (did not measure or weigh as hands are really bad now) on a 4ft hump on a motor oil swim worm carolina rig... 6 hours of fishing and 3 fish, but considering the situation I had a blast

Congrats Jason. Thats proof of the old saying, if there is a will there is a way. I can really relate to the cabin fever thing. Felt good to get out this weekend.
