I actually bought a couple (DHxL and DH3000) 3 yrs ago when my wife was learning to fish and I couldn't get her in the habit of manually closing the bail and giving the line a quick look and little pull.

They served their purpose good enough that first summer I suppose. The overall quality was suspect and the 3000 was very heavy. The dhxl was a pretty good little reel for ultralight duty stuff on 4lb line.

After she bought her Stradic C reels and she got serious she's MUCH happier.

I have a DHxL.
Actually a great little reel.

I got it because I use braid on my ultras and lights.
Small reels mean THIN spools means wind knots and frequent spool and line knots when using light braid.
Braid knots on 2 and 4 pound equivalent knots are impossible to remove. This reel DID eliminate the knots.
I have made a few knots but NOTHING like my Quantum tours.
I have and use many lights and ultra lights.
Remember, I started as a CRAPPY BOY!

Now the thing that most don't know is that that little reel has 22-24 lbs. of drag.
Find that on another ultralight.
Drag is very smooth.
I caught that huge Carp last year using a Croix Legend 7' ultra light with the DHxL.

Most know how hard on equipment I am and this little reel has held up well.
I've had and use it every year.

It serves it's purpose well and it's my only inexpensive reel I own.
