Protective Eyewear is a Must When Fishin'
Hey Gang,
I had a very close call yesterday while trying to land a fish. I normally wear sunglasses to protect my eyes from the sun, but I never thought to use them to protect my eyes from flying objects. Such as your lures sling shotting back at your face at warp speed! My bandit 100 narrowly missed my left eye, when it came unbuttoned at point blank range. It POPPED me just above my left eye, somehow my eyebrow kept the hooks from penetrating. Thank God! Please be careful Gang, and wear your Eye Protection. ~Mark |

Wow, glad to hear you're still looking at the world in stereo, Woody. Be careful out there! In fact, I would recommend you stop trying to catch fish altogether if it's going to put your eyes at risk!
My eyes have been completely safe this month LOL.

we had a guy in a rocky fork lake tourney that busted a fish off at the boat on a texas rig worm and the bullet sinker went up his nose, he went to the ER and they pulled it out, he came back to finish.

I just thought of something. I would bet a large proportion of people in that guy's situation are the victim of someone else's fish hooks. If someone did that to me...I might have to kill them. I did smack Woody in the leg with one of my cranks though (not full force...just a casual flip), so even the careful fisherman can goof up.

Peerless H Price, that pic was nasty!!!!!
I pretty much always have my polarized shades on when I'm fishing, but there is the occasion every now and then when I forget them. Lately though, I've been stowing them in a pouch on my tackle bag. Hook in the eye is a serious problem, especially when you consider just how fast an eye heals. By the time that guy got to the hospital, I'm willing to bet his eye was already healing around the hook. So he got double-diddled

OMG! That f'n picture was gross! Hey, I see some of these Renegade polarized sunglasses at Wal-Mart all the time. Would it be better to have a pair of cheap polarized glasses, than no glasses at all?

I get beat / hooked / pegged and abused in 19 years of guiding. I have glasses on all the time. I have clear ones for night fishing. I also suggest those nice ball caps be replaced with a wire brim hat.
Hooks and cateracts in your future for not wearing sun glasses. Capt Mike PS The lure is a Super Duper Spoon

I always use sunglasses even at dusk and on the cloudiest of days. I need to get some clears for night fishing. I venture to say night fishing with all your buddies packed on a boat is the most dangerous. My buddy hooked his own chin the other day. I told him to push it through and he did. Those damn barbs dont leave you many options.

I actually have some of them cheap Renegades Charlie, and gotta say, they aren't bad at all. About all your are really gonna get out of more expensive ones are more scratch resistant lenses, and perhaps more comfortable frames. The polarization on them is pretty dang good actually.
