Sad day when you have to put down a pet. At least she had not turned on you or another (human) family member, or guest. We can't always understand what makes an animal change behavoir, but better that you did the humane thing and saved harmony within the household and eliminated a situation that may have deterioated further. I am sorry for your loss of an obviously loved pet, and that there was not another course of action to resolve the problem.

That is a hard , sad thing to do.

We never really can be sure of the whys of animal behavior but...
frequently such great behavior change can be due to an internal 'health' challenge. When we hurt we can say. And a friend can be in great 'discomfort' internally and we never can know. Causing no patients with other animals especially 'younger' animals.
You may have done your friend a great favor.

But its hard under any circumstance!

Really sorry for your loss. Losing a pet for any reason is a tough thing. It sounds like you made the right decision and possibly saved yourself the loss of 2 pets down the road. That doesn't make it any easier though.

I'm so sorry about Mazie. I've had to do that a couple times and I know the heart break. I believe you did the right thing. Had you adapted Mazie out and she attacked the new owners or their other pets or children, you would have felt very badly. We can't always know the whys, but we can remember them for what they brought to our lives.

Like said before it's never easy, but sounds like it was the right thing to do.

Sorry for your loss Don. Pets have a way of becoming family members, and losing them is never easy. It sounds like you did the best thing you could have. A lot of people wouldn't be able to bring themselves to do the right thing in this situation. Although it was a hard thing for you to do you made the responsible decision. Sorry for your loss.

It's an awful day when you lose a good friend - I lost my bestest girl a few months ago. I loved her so much. I'm very sorry for your loss.
