Labor Day weekend fishing with my wife's family
We spent Labor Day weekend at the lake with my sister-in-law and her family and everyone did a bit of fishing while we were there. All the fish we caught were released unharmed.
This is my brother-in-law and 4-year old nephew with a couple LM that my B-I-L caught on Saturday morning. My nephew is helping me hold my two best bass from Saturday morning. One is 3lb 3oz, 16.75", the other is 2lb 13oz, 16.0" and both were caught on a 5" wacky-rigged senko on a dropshot rig. This is Sunday morning and my nephew is holding the 2lb 3oz LM I caught using a T-rigged Zoom Speed Worm with the tail pinched off (aka "Zoomie"). On Labor Day morning, my soon-to-be 8-year old niece used a 5" wacky-rigged senko to catch her first ever bass. She just dropped it to the bottom of the lake in about 8 feet of water right next to the boat (no casting, just pushed the button and let it drop!) and hauled in this 2lb 11oz, 15.5" Largemouth all by herself. She didn't think she could get it up to the boat by herself and wanted to give up several times, but we wouldn't let her quit and kept rooting her on and encouraging her until she got it into netting position. It was awesome! Here's a shot of me (2lb 14oz) and my brother-in-law (1 lb 15oz) with Smallies and my wife (2lb 1oz), my nephew (1lb 15oz) and niece (2lb 11oz) with Largemouth all from the Monday morning outing. Each person caught the fish they are holding except my nephew, who is "borrowing" one that my wife caught. Here is my nephew with one of his own fish. And, not to be left out, here is a shot of my sister-in-law with a Rock Bass she caught. After my sister-in-law and her family all left on Monday afternoon, my parents arrived and stayed with me for the rest of the week. My wife had to head back home to work on Tuesday, but my dad and I were able to do some good fishing the rest of the week. I'll post those results in a separate thread when I get time. Dean |
