I like the white.whit and chart.,chartruase and chart. and green.I think those are great colors.Here's some of the spinnerb's i'm buying at BPS on Sunday.Terminator 3/8 color (smallie),Stanley 3/8 Tenn.Shad,Booyah db willow 3/8 bleeding firetiger,XPS Enticer 3/8 shad/nickel and a boat load of

does anyone have the link to a post from a month or so ago that was about spinnerbait. Some one broke down the basics of selecting color/blade combos perfectly. I've look but cant seem to find it.

dual willow leaf blades for windy or clear water, over weed beds,
A slower presentation is made by using a single colorado blade, or for murkier water.
Your average bread and butter spinnerbait is a small colorado blade in the back and a #3 or 4 willow in front, I prefer chartruse and white for about all the skirts.

A. Blades
When choosing blades consider water clarity and color.
Use blades that will produce the proper amount of flash and vibration needed for the situation.
Clear water= Willow blades with a fast retrieve, Stained water= Indiana Blades with a moderate retrieve, Muddy water= Colorado Blades with a slow retrieve.
B. Colors
Consider type of forage, water clarity, sky conditions, and water temperature when choosing colors.
In clear water be sure to match the hatch for a more realistic presentation.
Also consider the color of your blades, gold blades= muddy water, painted blades= extremely overcast skies or stained water, Silver= Sunny, clear water.

C. Skirts
Length, color, and bulk of a skirt draw bass’s attention.
Match the length, bulk, and color of the skirt to the prime forage of the lake.
D. Compact Spinnerbaits.
Work well in ultra-clear water or to match the size of a small baitfish.
Also very good for probing deep water structure, also consider tailspinners.
E. Single-Spins
Good for the summer months.
Use one with a big willow or Indiana blade.
Also very well for the flutter technique, after casting it out, reel it quickly, and just let it fall on a taught line.
F. Tackle
Use fluorocarbon for all spinnerbait fishing
For the fluttering technique use heavy baits with short arms.
If needed add belly-weights or tungsten sticky weights for extra weight.
Always use a trailer hook, unless fishing in heavy cover.
Use a 6’6” or 6’10” Medium Heavy rod with a short handle.
Always use a high speed reel.

Hey I was close! Not bad for typin' out a reponse while running a crane..lol...was waiting on a laser to finish a sheet of stainless while I had a new skid on my sheetlifter...had a minute to kill...
anyways, yea kevin stated about the indiana blade, I am finding it harder and harder to find those on the commercial market, already made up as a spinnerbait, but I know you can buy them seperately and make your own...
I like a hammered tortoise shell blade with a bend going down the middle.

that was from notes of KVD at a Bassmaster U seminar. I can't remember the guys name who sent them to me..but thanks to him I have notes from 5 or 6 pro's on different things.

its always good to go back over those notes and then be able to apply it to changing conditions,
once you're out there fishing....I know I used to read and read bassmaster and think I had a grasp, but once out on the water you start to second guess whats going on when the bite is not there and the pattern has changed..

Don't really have a favorite brand, I look for more of the colors and blade combo's I like I do like the look of Reb's, and I did fish them in some harsh stuff (usually would've only thrown a buzzbait in this stuff) and they definately made the grade. That is after I put the Willow leaf blade back on I also should say I like the Titanium wire spinnerbaits, because of a lot less tuning, bend them silly, and just recast, because it's right back in shape.

InEccess, good tip on the rubber over the R-bend. I learned that at this site a long time ago. I actually learned it because I wanted to use a quick lock/snap swivel type connector because I would change them a lot. It keeps the swivel from slipping around. Later I heard(I have no proof) that they help make the wires last longer.

The best spinnerbait is one that tracks the straightest when pulled through the snow when casting in the yard. Well jeepers creepers, its still winter here for crying out loud.I was always partial to the big willow leaf blades, especially when you casted well beyond your target and you retrieve the bait while its in the air above the flower pot on the end of the docks. The willowleafs will make it look like its been hit with a weedeater before you can get the bait back in the water. P N J
