Default It's Monkey Time...

This arrived on my front porch this evening.

I decided to upgrade my unit on the kayak, something a little bigger yet not a huge one that would take up too much room and get in the way.

So tomorrow I will be doing the install and can't wait to see the HD image. I think this will be much easier to read and possibly allow me to use split screen to view DI & SI at the same time.

Hopefully the monkey will now leave me alone for a couple months and go pick on someone else.

Very nice Bruce!

If you end up not liking, I'll let you send it to me so you don't have to deal with it. Being the good friend I am, I'll even pay the shipping.

Sweet! I'm still trying to figure out what i'm going to do. I'm dead set on a SI unit though!

Has your buddy gotten a chance to test that new battery with his 998?

You are gonna like it!

I have a 798 HD DI/SI unit and love it. I highly recommend getting the Navionics Hotmaps SD card to go along with it.

The screen is 7". I had an option on a 998cSI (NOT HD) for the same money, but a buddy of mine just installed one on his kayak (same as mine) and I thought it was just too big. AND I wanted the HD, so this should be perfect. The 798 I had has gone to a new home and made room for this one.

Got some Navionic chips, as mentioned I had the 798 and still have an 1197 on my boat and I hope I don't start thinking about a big HD unit...

Thats a sweet unit Bruce. Who ever thought bass fishing from a yak could be so high tech. Looking forward to future stories about your day in the yak.

Hotmaps does not have as much as each pkg above that like silver ,gold ,platnum, they are good maps however in most cases, but not all.Ky lake ends on the map just past paris landing one then needs the river pkg.Says ky.tn on it yet has like 20 miles of tn on it.
And thought they were all mmc/sd,but am behind the times possibly.
One would be better off with say gold for your region.Than having to buy lots of hotmaps.

Boogie, do you ever record images from your HB? I am a sucker for some good SI shots.

Damn...how did I miss this thread? Been too busy I guess.

CONGRATS, BRUCE!

Getting a new HB is always a happy time.

I am totally jealous.

I expect some good SI pics.

That ain't the bait monkey. That's his cousin, the boat (or kayak) ape, lol. Congrats on your latest acquisition.

IT'S PERFECT, well in size anyway. It is so much easier to see. I'm still not certain as to the final location of the transducer arm, I may move it aft a bit and mount it on the hand rail slightly rear of the seat, keeping it in reach to clear grass that may get caught. Where it is now is slightly in the way when landing fish and a fish might get wrapped around it. Still thinking about that.
